Hey guys, going to be extremely vulnerable right now. But I am STRUGGLING! This is my first child and what should come natural I feel I am completely lost. From feeding to day time activities to sleep. At night baby just wails and we both end up crying all night. I’ve started not being able to not cry during the day as well. Her cries and grunts agitate me and while I’ve wanted this and her for so long, I sometimes feel like I just don’t want to do this anymore. I’m also super anxious about everything and Google everything like 3-4 times from sources. But it’s not all bad, somedays we have good days she sleeps well we both have a good day, but those comes and go and the struggle is starting outweighs the good days. Is this normal first mom feelings or something more? I find when I turn to my support team they just say I’m doing too much or I’m too worried about everything but they also don’t know the lengths that this goes to. Looking for insight.

Hey love I’ve been there talk to your doctor bc I had these same feelings and they told me I had postpartum rage if you ever need to talk message me❤️

The first weeks are tough. Hang in there. The two books that helped me the most were babywise and wonder weeks.

That is happening to me now with my baby

This is normal. Our brains change once baby is born. It makes us more aware of danger and makes us upset to hear our baby cry. Taking care of a newborn is fucking hard. Try not to think of it as should be natural or easy. I would stay off google, talk to your doctor or pediatrician about how your feeling. Check out the app gentle birth for some calming meditations. You got this.

I would talk to your doctor, they can help!! But I will say that i struggled in the beginning. The hormone change, the sleeplessness, the now knowing what the heck you’re doing, the breastfeeding struggles. Just know that you’re not alone and there’s help if you need it!

I can completely relate. I feel like I’m failing. My baby is almost 2 weeks old, I’m 35 with my first and I don’t know what I’m doing. I love her so much but I feel like I wasn’t cut out to be a mom 😢

how are you coping?

thank you I appreciate this

thank you so much

I doing ok

I totally agree. I’m 33 and my daughter is 4 weeks, but was 5 weeks early. I have no idea what I’m doing and I feel like she knows that and it makes it worst. I feel like I’m not cut out for motherhood either and sometime regret the decision which I hate to admit “out loud”

thanks Kelsea, this is helpful and nice to hear the other end of it. The shame is definitely real and loud over here

thank you this is great. Looking into them

thank you so much

I was so anxious but didn’t realize I probably had depression until im out of it. Now I look back I think I was having PPD+PPA till 11m postpartum, then just exhausted from lack of sleep until now 22m pp with sleep improved so much I finally feel like myself.
If I could go back in time, I’ll tell myself to let go of the mom shame and stop trying to act like I’m doing ok and go see a doctor and get some med to help.

Also just want to give you a big hug. It’s really not easy. People who has never experienced a bad pp will not understand. But it’s valid. We see you. We know you are trying your hardest. And please believe this WILL get better with time, especially when you get to sleep more. For my experience, I think the 1 year mark made a lot of difference. It was slowing getting better 10m but 1y was so much better.

thank you! I’m going to listen n call my OB Monday. I’m happy to not be alone n have so many amazing women have gone through it n share such kind words. Thank you so much

Those first few months are so so hard! Just know you are not alone!! It does get better, but it's also not a failure to go look for professional help as well ❤️

my daughter is 12 weeks and I still have days where I just cry & cry and feel like I don’t want to do this anymore and feel frustrated towards my baby but then we have good days and every time she smiles at me it just melts my heart. Im on the waiting list for treatment for PPD so definitely talk to your doctor if you don’t feel like it’s getting any easier. A lot of mums struggle but not many admit it, there’s nothing to be ashamed about & just try enjoy the little moments as much as you can

You sound like me a year ago. I cried multiple times a day for the first 2 months. Then one day I realized that my baby needed me to be happy so I could take care of him better and I was able to pull myself out of it. The sleepless nights are rough but they don’t last long. The first year flies by and soon you’ll be looking back on these memories fondly. Best of luck! 💕

I had the same experience, although I was not disheartened by my babys noises but during PPD breastfeeding was a special kind of hell. Getting outside more helps with PPD and the fresh air is always worth the walk or a small stroll even. Thats what helped me post partum or else I think I would’ve gone crazy. But we are women and we bounce back harder than ever so just hang in there mama!❤️

thank you. Sending light n positivity ur way. U got this mama

thank you for the reassurance that’s helpful

It’s ok to not be ok, but definitely call your doctor. And yes, I know how difficult it can be, but go for a walk everyday to get the fresh air and sunshine. Even if it is just a short walk. And again, very difficult, but get as much sleep as you can. ❤️

thank you! Yes all challenging especially with the weather getting colder but I have to make the effort for us both
