My toddler wont go to the potty. I havnt been very active in taking her to the toilet as much as i was pregnant and just gave birth but it is seriously very frustrating. She just stands in the corner to poop and wont even tell us. What can i do?

you have to do the work to make toileting a habit. when you use the bathroom, let her sit on her potty. give her a million opportunities. before you leave the house, sit her on the toilet. offer rewards. make it fun and make it something she is proud to do. this is one of the things that takes routine and consistency to teach. once you establish a routine, she will WANT to use the bathroom because her body will become used to having a bowel movement or voiding around certain times (give or take). BUT I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, it is up to YOU to build the routine and foster a pattern of using the toilet. she can’t teach herself.

sorry mama, this is definitely one of the harder parts of parenting!!

My youngest is 3 yrs and 5 months and also had a hard time learning to go potty. But she finally goes to the bathroom. I would put her in a diaper at night and in the morning put her in underwear. And she would be in underwear until bedtime. She likes bluey so we got her bluey underwear. Get her some underwear of a chatacter she'll like. I would take her to the bathroom 15 minutes after eating, but also we all know what it looks like when our kid is about to poop- look out for the cues and run her the bathroom. It took me about a month, but you have be consistent. And another 2 weeks to stop using diapers at night. She would have accidents, but that's part of the process. Just clean up the mess, wash the underwear and explain why it's not ok to pee or poop in the underwear. 3 yrs old- she's smarter than you think and she'll get it eventually. Be patient with her and yourself.

Try putting the potty in a common area where she spends most of her time. Treat it like a toy. Have her put her stuffed animals or dolls on it and teach them to go potty. Then try to get her to SHOW them how to go. She will feel it's a game and start to be more interested.

Find a non food related reward like stickers or stamps that she can have. Start by giving 1 to her when she just sits on her potty. Then when she actually goes you can give her like a 99¢ toy like a bouncy ball or something.

Whatever you do, control your emotions when she has accidents because it will affect her potty training.
