Hiya, I’m 39 weeks and wondering whether I should start harvesting colostrum as I’ve seen a lot of other mothers talking about this? I’m planning a vaginal delivery and to breastfeed/express so I’m not sure if it’s necessary as won’t baby receive the benefits when he starts feeding after birth?
I suppose I’m just not sure if there’s any point for me personally but so many people seem to be doing it!

If you can, its worth maybe giving it a go. I used colostrum as baby was struggling to latch initially/straight away and so it gave her some of that liquid gold they talk about, and kept her going until she found the match easier.
It can be a nice back up, but not everyone can get it and it shouldn't cause stress if you can't. 💛Q

Nope, not tried at all. I'm not sure how to do it as I'm not leaking and didn't try with my older 2 kids too

It’s definitely not necessary, but feel free to do research on it. I’m also planning vaginal delivery then breastfeeding. I just trust my body to kick start my milk after birth naturally (I know there’s a chance it won’t, but can think about the other options if that scenario happens)
