Dummy?

I give my week old baby one only when needed, usually when changing him or when just trying to soothe. He doesn’t take it if he’s super tired but it’s been super helpful when going to his drs appointments. If you want to give it to baby now I personally see no harm, they gave him one in the hospital when he was only 2 days old!

I gave one to my little one when he was about 4 days old, when the screaming and sleepless nights became too much it was the last resort to try soothe him and worked a treat! If you are breast feeding they recommend waiting I think 6 weeks until it’s fully established as they say it can cause nipple / teat confusion, however I was breastfeeding at the time and he had no issues going between both the dummy / boob / bottle 🙂 your baby you do what you feel is right! X

And there was absolutely zero issues with having a dummy and breastfeeding

Day 2

My little one is 2.5 weeks old & I’m thinking about introducing one in the mornings so that I can get some makeup on and dry my hair without him screaming and crying as if I’m starving him and he didn’t eat 5 minutes ago. 😅

I gave my little one hers on day 1 she was in the NICU and needed something to suckle as she was on a feeding tube, she only gets it now when needed xx

I gave my little one within like day 4/5, i found she was feeding off me every 20/30 minutes and using the dummy has helped stretch her feeds out, so she can also sleep in-between. Also helps us when we are out and about as she wants to suck something to be soothed.

6 days... its cause no problem at all - I am EBF and she loves a Dummy to help her sleep x

We gave in at 2 weeks and it was an absolute game changer! We initially used a little finger to soothe her.

I gave my little one a dummy at 10 days. He’s exclusively breastfed n midwife said was fine to do so as we knew he was eating enough as his 10 day weight was correct. She said sometimes they say wait as it can cause them to skip a feed but if baby is putting weight on should be fine. It’s been a great help for me my partner can soothe baby for abit with dummy etc x

I gave my first daughter one at 5 days old and my second daughter had one about 6hrs after birth 🤣
I only breast fed for a short amount of time with both but it didn’t cause any confusion x

I gave my twins one when they were about 2-3 weeks old just to soothe them. Very helpful and they don’t always have them. X

My twins had dummy from couple days old and it didn't affect feeding. My new baby is 10 days old and have managed no dummy so far but feel like need something soon as he makes himself sick through comfort feeding. The midwife said to try dummy once and then see if it affects latch etc next time and if not then it will be fine. She said no harm in trying x

The NICU gave my boy one when he was 5 days old, we had breastfeeding established and didn’t affect it after either, he doesn’t really use it maybe 10/15 minutes every few days

To my first born I gave it from day one and now he’s 5 and still using it, he’s so in love with it .
Now to my 3w old I also gave it to her, from day 2 because we forgot to buy a pacifier and daddy brought us some in her second day of life but she’s not so “in love “ with it, or at least not yet .❤️
