Dream feeding

My LG is 23 weeks and I am breast feeding. She will “fall asleep” still latched and still feeding which I think is dream feeding. She won’t unlatched untill she’s ready to wake up and I can tell she’s asleep as her breathing changes.. I stroke her back of her next like the HV said to do I say her name to try and keep her awake but she just goes and so then doesn’t have a good feed or sleep…. Any suggestions on how to handle this?

You can try and prevent the falling asleep by changing feeding positions during feeding her.

hey, yeah I do that I start onto he right and move to the left 😔 she feeds from both most feeds.

Stripping baby from warm cloths helps! As well as kind of massaging feet and hands.

A dream feed is something else. A dream feed is when you pick up your baby that’s already asleep in bed to nurse, around the same time that you yourself go to sleep. So say you put your baby down at 7. You go about doing your thing and 10 on comes around you want to go to bed. So you give your sleeping baby another feed to top her off. Some parents swear by it bc it gives them a longer stretch of sleep. 😴 🤗

Concerning what you’re talking about: my baby does the same! I nurse him he falls asleep in my arms with the boob in his mouth. I have two ways of handling it…
1. I commit to allowing him to nurse to sleep and when he’s deep asleep he usually lets go of the nipple, I can tug the boobs away, burp him and gently put him to bed.

2. I want to put him down drowsy but awake. I nurse him in my arms for as long as he needs to be full. If he closes his eyes that’s fine. If he falls asleep, I exit the room with baby in arms into the lit hallway. The light usually wakes him…

From there we go back to the nursery, he either finishes nursing or is fed and drowsy enough for me to put him down. And that’s a whole different animal! 😂 I feel the more confident I am about it and can mentally reassure him that mama is here, that he is safe and can trust me, the easier the whole “putting the baby’s down” thing goes. Trust your mama baby connection! You got this ✅

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!
