Dummy/Sleep issue

My LG turned 6 months start of the month, and we’ve recently moved her into her own room.
She has a dummy only when she’s going to sleep for comfort she’s not interested in it during the day, doesn’t really sleep without it been like that since she was little. BUT she often spits it out once she’s asleep, which results in (like last night) waking up about 8 times just to put the dummy back in. Didn’t mind so much when she was in our room but it’s getting tiring as she’s harder to get back to sleep since not being arms length away for quick dummy incision ! Has anyone gone cold turkey? Or wait it out till she’s bigger and can find the dummy better herself?

We went cold turkey two weeks ago due to the exact same problem. She forgot about it within 24hrs and sleep has improved a lot!

I was thinking about it the last few days as well . Thank you for asking ☺️

cold turkey really worked for us! we were having so many issues with the dummy, waking up loads in the night and nightmare at naps as he kept pulling it out rather than sleeping 🙃 hope it works out for you! x

not as much as I expected. I did introduce a comforter a few weeks before and she now has that. X

we honestly hardly noticed, we thought he was really reliant on it, but after a day he was falling asleep without it x

oh that’s amazing! It’s not our bedtime. We’ve had lots of tears already. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 x

We went cold turkey when we sleep trained due to the same issues, best thing we ever did! She sleeps so much better, we’ve never looked back x

When you went cold turkey, did you soothe sleepy time crying in any other way?

brilliant! I really hope I have the same outcome… she’s just woke up, currently at 10 mins of screaming 🙈x

this is my worry!! 😬

there was a fair amount of screaming involved initially and a lot of trips in and out of her room to reassure her but after a few days we were sorted - keep at it! X

Help

My LO every feed. Drs don’t seem to think it’s a problem the whole Muslim cloth gets soaked so much I’m using towels now. I’ve tried size O teats he gets really frustrated and still spills it out :(

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.
