Skiing pregnant

Posting incognito just incase as I’m very early! Got a ski trip booked in at the end of Jan and just found out I’m pregnant. Wasn’t going to be a mad, adrenaline thing anyway as taking my toddler and husbands a new skiied but has anyone skiied pregnant? The NHS advise is ok any time but especially after 14 weeks (I’ll be 16 weeks) so just wanted to see if anyone done it before or any advice really.
Not looking to be talked out of going by the way 😂

Congratulations 🎊 💕 As an ex-ski guide, I've known a few people who have skied pregnant and loved it - they just took it really easy, gentle slopes, tried to stay away from the busiest areas etc.
I would have gone pregnant if we had the time for sure. 👌
The same rules apply as all other exercise - if you did it pre-pregnancy you can do it after.
The main risks are falling and bumps, which is why they don't recommend in 1st trimester while bump/uterus is still developing and strengthening.
Things I would tell pregnant people - don't push it, get acclimatised to the altitude BEFORE you going skiing (like maybe spend a half day just walking around the village/town on your first day), stay hydrated, stay comfy and bring snacks!!
The most important thing is to listen to your body - if you're not feeling it - stop, and take breaks whenever you need 😊

Sorry ran out of space 🙈
Keep yourself warm with layers, especially back/midriff (obvs) and remember your feet may be bigger than normal and you'll be better off renting boots (if you own your own they may not fit - sorry!) And get a .5 size bigger than you usually would - you'll thank yourself after a couple hours!

And goes without saying I guess but don't try anything new, stick to the piste and try to avoid jumps/moguls if I were you - relaxin (your muscle relaxant hormone BFF 🤣) will be kicking in and you can injure yourself more easily.

I'm not a doctor so this is just based on my previous guiding experience of 5 years and working in the Ski industry for several years. See advice if you need :)

That’s brilliant advice thank you! I’ve skied my whole life so I’m hoping to just have a more chilled trip then I normally would (not rushing to make first tracks 😂) and taking lots of breaks if I need them.
Thank you so the kind words and support! X

You'll be fine, you know your limits and just don't push yourself 👍
Please do check with your insurance too as well, some resorts offer extra insurance when you buy your lift pass - even if you're covered, spend then extra few euros to get that too - it's dedicated in resort support and worth the peace of mind 👌
Have the best time!

Thank you for the tip! I’ve got travel insurance but I’ll look into that! C

Definitly check that your insurance winter cover will cover you pregnant.
I had to do IVF to fall pregnant so opted to not ski when we went and I was 14 weeks at the time as I felt any additional risk was not something I was prepared to take (but it's completely personal choice) I also had some bleeding in early pregnancy so that kept me terrified about losing the pregnancy (thankfully I didn't)

I enjoyed hiking in the mountain instead, I'm also not the most sporty so we go skiing/snowboarding once a year, but I felt it was more excercise than I would normally be doing!

Just keep in mind u will likely find the altitude much more tiring, so plenty rests and lots of yummy food on the slopes needed!!
Have fun! Xx

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Baby is still very actively kicking xx
