Heartbeat checks

I was wondering if anyone else is having their multiple children and could help with midwife appointments?
Since 16 weeks I was under the impression you had fetal checks with the midwives? But we've not heard the heartbeat at all at any of the midwife appointments! The only way we hear it is when we have a scan! We are now 23 weeks and had an appointment today and again she didn't do it! I will call the hub in the morning and inquire but it's baffled me! With my first we heard it all the time!

My midwife listened to baby’s heartbeat at my 16 week appointment for the first time x

Mine listened at my 16 week appt (I was actually 21 weeks though as it was so delayed) she said alot of midwives won't listen until 28 week appt though x

We've not heard our LOs heartbeat yet. Had the 20w today.
We didn't hear my firsts til closer to 30 weeks.
A lot of practices don't do them until 24+ weeks.

Oohh the replies are interesting with the amount of weeks they listen! My first we heard at 16 weeks and at every appointment! This time we've hardly had an appointment and not had heard anything! I will give my hub a call in the morning and find out.

Thank you so much ladies!! Xx

Covid messed everything up, I work in a gp surgery and remember it all when it changed and what we had to advise pregnant patients. It's been awful for anyone pregnant since, always felt so awful and sorry on any pregnant woman who was desperate to get hold of a midwife xx

It just looks like they getting very lazy these days or as some girls say after lockdown...I'm high risk as carrying identical twins so under constant care so they said that won't be measuring me or listening to my heart 🙈 which I find pretty weird as why then I need to go see them? I can check by BP at Dr every two weeks...

Avatar

Official guidelines say fetal heartbeat check from 24 weeks onwards I believe x

Avatar

I think it varies based on where you live, my midwife started listening to the heartbeat at 24 weeks and fundal measurements from 28 weeks x

I went for my 16 weeks and she stated because you under the consultant care they won't do this...I just find it worthles going there if everything they do is check by BP and urine, which is checked every two weeks at the hospital...

Hey ladies thought I would do a little catch up,I spoke to a midwife and they now don't do them as per their checks anymore! That's as of Nottingham rules not sure of different areas of the UK!
She said I can ask them at my next appointment but don't be alarmed if they say no!
They now use our guide when we tell them how active the baby is!

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?
