Overtired baby

Does anyone have any tips for napping. My baby is currently 4 months old and refuses naps. She won’t nap during the day so by the afternoon/evening she is screaming as she’s overtired :(

Try putting down before baby is tired. So I think at the four month mark try a nap after 2 hours max of wake time. Try while noise or maybe pram walks. At 4 months you definitely need them napping in the day you must be going mad you poor thing. I hope it resolves soon xx

I will try this tomorrow! As much as I love her being awake she definitely does need her naps! I can see how exhausted she gets but she just won’t give in and stays awake. She will sleep in the pram but the minute it stops she wakes up lol. Hoping this passes soon and she starts napping again xx

Is the room completely dark? Watch your baby carefully for cues. If your baby won’t go down for naps in the crib, try the carrier, stroller, cart seat till you can start establishing the wake window times and schedules. Periodically try the crib. Your baby will get there. Mine lived in the carrier before. Now 99% of her sleep is in the crib.

Oh my goodness she is 4 months and she doesn't nap at all in the day? How the heck does she make it through the day!! I would personally force naps, dark room, lullabies, swaddled and rock until she falls asleep. Even If she kicks, screams, back arches and cries, keep going. My baby fights naps often. I never give in, even if it takes an hour to get him down. He eventually always falls asleep. I personally would try this. Babies this young can not go all day without napping

My LO started this, I now make sure I start the process just before 2 hrs. Make sure she has play time in between. I walk around gently shh’ing whilst I turn lights and TV off, pull the blinds down. Sit and cuddle her in (most times she’ll try to fight it for 5-10 mins), I keep gently rocking my arm, whilst I rub the side of her face. For nap times I hmm the tune to ‘stay awake’ from Mary poppins 🤣 She then gives in and sleeps nicely.

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!
