Baby monitor recommendations

Are they a gimmick or needed? Also, im terrified of creeps accessing my baby via baby monitor. Which ones are tried and true?

Get one that doesn’t need wifi, then no-one will be able to access your baby/house. I don’t think they’re a gimmick, I thinks it’s really handy to keep you mind at ease x

I totally agree with the above comment. I find it very very useful, but you don't need one connected to the Internet. 👍🏻

I agree with previous comments, the whole thing about connecting on wifi is a gimmick to me but not the monitor itself.
I’m completely with you worrying about creeps getting access to it, we live in a crazy and dangerous world, which is why we went for a simple VTech camera/monitor so we can keep an eye on her once we put her to bed at night but doesn’t connect to anything else.

Agree about wifi! Also frustrating when wifi goes out

I bought the Hellobaby monitor on Amazon. It doesn’t require Wi-Fi and is super easy to use. I’m also impressed with the sound quality and picture!

Love the Vava monitor. We have had for 2+ years and still works great. No WiFi and easy setup- just plug it in and it's good to go. So easy for travel too

Hello baby. No WiFi

I’d never buy a vtech anything, they were the first ones with a security breach that exposed parent and child data as well as allowing strangers to access baby monitors across the world because they never had security and LIED to parents about it being safe and secure . To this date that company is responsible for one of the largest breaches in private data ever - in the world. Not just baby monitors either, also webcams and microphones on toddlers learning pads.

We also have the hello baby one and I love it.. simple, does the job x

thats what i thought! I was gonna go old school with the walkie talkie version because im being paranoid about some weirdo being able to talk to my kid

My LO every feed. Drs don’t seem to think it’s a problem the whole Muslim cloth gets soaked so much I’m using towels now. I’ve tried size O teats he gets really frustrated and still spills it out :(

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.
