I have a cold ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm nearly 3wks pp and breastfeeding.
Pretty sleep deprived and now developing a cold ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ
Is there any way I can try and limit my baby getting it? ๐Ÿ˜ซ

She's been cluster feeding and I don't know how I'll get through the nights with a cold on top of everything.

If you are breastfeeding while sick your body is producing antibodies and those transfer through your milk. Also be careful if you take any decongestant as that dries up your nose but also can affect breast milk production(i didnt think about this the first time i was sick so thats why i mention it)

Ah I am breastfeeding. Will this help her not get it? The thought of these early bf, sleepless weeks with a cold and a baby with a cold too fills me with dread.

A lot of the time the dread is the worst part I found. Keep plenty water handy and nap as much as you can. Maybe someone could take baby a walk so u can rest? As mentioned your milk will help to protect baby uts very clever! There's not much you can get for babies with colds (my 7 week old has one now!) but u can use a calpol plug in. Good luck!

thank you ๐Ÿ’“ yup it is absolutely the dread.
I hope your little one is doing okay!

Similar happened to me as I have birth in November and baby surprisingly didnโ€™t catch anything due to breastfeeding. Get lots of vitamin C in you (preferably from food rather than supplements) and try ur hardest to rest when baby is sleeping I know itโ€™s easier said than done. Even half an hour to an hour rest is better than none. Housework etc can wait xx

thank you! Good to know it's not inevitable that she'll catch it ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ it's coincided with my partner going back to work, so feeling a bit extra vulnerable and worn out!

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (sheโ€™s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. Iโ€™m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I canโ€™t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall โ€œdemandingโ€ to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly donโ€™t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally Iโ€™d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and Iโ€™m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesnโ€™t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? ๐Ÿ˜…

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, heโ€™s always been this way, but anytime familyโ€™s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (Heโ€™s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He wonโ€™t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

Heโ€™s very interested in things that arenโ€™t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesnโ€™t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!
