sleeping hours?

How old and how many hours of sleep is your LO having at night.? Do they sleep through the night? Wondering to see if I should cut off time and wake up my LO early.

exactly the same is going on with me at times it’s too many times. I’m trying to figure out if my baby is sleeping too much. Since she sleeps 10-12 hours at night of course with wake up.

Avatar

mostly I’m getting 12 hrs. Thinking of cutting 2 hours off then maybe naps would be better too. I’m stuck at 30 min

We roughly get 10 hours with one wake up in the middle. Then we have a rough 4 hour cycle eat for roughly an hour (😭) then we sit upright for 15/30 minutes tummy time and "play" for 1hr 15mins then nap for 45 mins/1hr.

@Sara my son is 11.5 weeks and will cluster feed on the breast from 7pm-10pm. And then we top him off with 2oz of formula. He usually falls asleep between 10:45 & 11pm and will wake up between 5 & 5:30am. We get anywhere from 5-6 hours of a sleep stretch at night! We'll go back to bed whenever the 5am feeding is done and he'll sleep another few hours

For awhile he was sleeping 11-12 hours with no wake ups. Now for the last 4 days he has been sleeping 8 hours and then has 1 feeding and then sleeps an additional 3 hours. He is 13 weeks old.

He will still nap during the day with typically one long nap that is 2-3 hours long.

I don’t know how u can cluster feed my baby just won’t take milk unless she wants it. :( and she usually cluster feeds but has been doing about 4-5 oz every 2 hrs these days. Is that the only time u use formula?

Avatar

honestly that sounds great. I don’t like late wake ups since I need to start taking my 11 year old to school. @laura your LO is small and doing great honestly some of us are just unlucky but I’m hoping it gets better.

Avatar

@Sara we just happened into cluster feeding, we first thought it was just the 'witching hour' but then figured out the correlation between him wanting to eat and then sleeping for longer at night. I'm thankful that he'll take my boob or else we'd be making bottles non stop between 6&10pm. Yes we only use the formula at night. Unless we're out and about then he'll take another formula bottle during the day. I'm not 100% about nursing in public yet....

Avatar

I don’t think my baby can last 4 hrs awake if that’s what u mean.

Avatar

I guess most of us are. Lol 😂 hoping it’s just this phase because I need at least one long nap soon. Lol

We usually put her to bed around 7, and she’ll sleep til 7-8 in the morning, so around 12 hours. She wakes up a few times to nurse, but she goes right back to sleep when she’s done. I feel like it’s a lot, but she doesn’t really nap during the day, so it’s just what works for us

Avatar

Oh she’s 11weeks :)

seems like what we do I guess it could be worse.they could be waking up at night or early and not sleeping but my LO also
Goes back to sleep

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!
