Stretching Wake Windows

My baby will be 7months next week. Currently he can go about 2-2.5hrs of wake time. I’m wondering at what point should I try to start stretching his wake windows or will he just do this himself?

He currently has 3 naps a day & I don’t think he’s ready to drop a nap just yet.

I obviously don’t want to venture into the overtired stage as that’s not fun for either of us. How does everyone do it?
TIA

Start stretching when he's ready for two naps and showing signs. You don't want to be keeping them awake much longer than 2/2.5 hours on a 3 nap schedule or they'll have too much awake time. 2 naps is the point you can transition to 2.5/3/3.5 or 3/3/3 hours of awake time.

I use this as a loose guide. It works for my bub.
I've found sleepiness is like hunger .. they don't extend it themselves. We go from feeding or sleeping at the first signs, to delaying and helping them go longer. I think of it as "solo play" when she's fresh, and "quiet play" or "cuddly play" when she is approaching a meal or nap.

They stretch their wake time themselves. Just watch her tired cues and with time naps automatically move later and later until it's time to drop one nap or bedtime will be past 10 pm.

My daughter has recently transitioned to 2 sleeps a day, she done it herself, and i just followed her sleep routine

I didn’t do anything to help mine, she just did it herself. I started noticing her first nap was getting a bit longer, which pushed everything back. I always want her bedtime to be around 8:30 so made sure she didn’t sleep past 6. So as her nap was happening later and later, I had to start cutting her off.
All of the shifting just happened naturally

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
