On my way to hospital for induction, someone please give me some feedback on the dilapan rods 😭 I’m so anxious and I’ve no idea what to expect 😭

relax why not gel or pessary?

I've been told because of my previous c section I can only be induced with these rods... I hope all goes well for you, it'll be great to hear how it goes x

Hope it goes well for you aswell, lets see what happens keep me updated.
they haven’t offered either of these, I had the pessary with my last baby but I think the rods is a newer more safe version of induction x
yes I think this type is suppose to be less harmful in terms of overstimulation of contractions and the possibility of baby becoming distressed like with the hormonal induction options! I’ve just not heard much about it at all, and I struggle with even cervical examinations so the thought of having these inserted and having to keep them in for a extended period of time scares me! I’m sure it will all be fine, I’ll let you know how my experience is! xx

I just hope what ever happens we have healthy and safe delivery x 🤞🏻either way x try take deep breaths and relax x

I had the rods with my first.
went in Thursday afternoon had them in 2pm-2am 12 hours. Was dilated enough to break my waters. Went to delivery Friday tea time as had to wait for a bed. Had my waters broke at 8pm started the drip around an hour after and gave birth at 7.20am Saturday morning and was home for 4pm Saturday afternoon.
From breaking my waters it was 11hrs35 till I gave birth. Established labour was 5hr24mins
I ended up with a 2nd degree tear was stitched up and healed perfect. I also had the epidural xx

Also on the insertion it’s around 5/10 mins its uncomfortable due to how you have to be laid but not painful at all and once they are in you literally have 0 idea xxx

Ask for gas and air whilst being examined and having them inserted. I don't know how bad it is or anything but I know you are entitled to gas and air even for exams alone
Thanks so much for all the advice ladies! Luckily I was 2cm dilated on examination and so no rods are needed and we are just awaiting being admitted to the delivery suite I assume for the hormone drip :) Feeling a lot more relaxed! Best wishes to you all 🤍

Good luck x
See I've been told I can't be given hormones so if the rods don't work it's straight to a c section for me 👎🏻
