Baby weight gain

My baby girl was born at 8lbs & 10oz on Dec 1st. She is now 9lbs & 6oz. Pediatrician told me she expected her to have gained a bit more weight in a month. I'm a fully breastfeeding momma & I occasionally pump. I feed her on demand & will allow her to be latched on as long as she needs to be.

I feel as long as she is gaining weight then I'm doing my job but hearing that & knowing what I do at home very much discouraged me. Any input?

In my experience and listening to the experiences of others, I personally think doctors unnecessarily scare people about weight gain. If the baby is gaining weight, I don’t understand a medical reason that you should be super concerned. I also have a theory that it’s a huge part of why so many mothers give up breastfeeding so early on.

I was told the same thing and I remember thinking that maybe I wasn’t making enough milk so I added formula a lot earlier than i intended bc of pressure. Looking back, my baby was drinking just fine and he didn’t gain a substantial amount of weight even after adding formula (he’s just smaller). As long as your baby is not loosing weight, is hitting most milestones, has enough wet diapers, and is tracking well in her OWN growth curve — not necessarily the average, then I think you should be fine!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who speculated this. Thank you for your input!

they suggested formula to me too! I almost gave in to pressure as well because i felt like im not doing enough😪 I truly appreciate your input, she always has 8-10 diapers on average so I know we are on the right track!

My big was born at 9lb 8, at 5 weeks old he was 9lb 6 so not quite back at birth weight yet. Exclusively breastfed here too.
I used to worry so much about weight again but all mine have been the same, slow to regain birth weight and then slowly gained following that but remained on the centile line that they settled on. All perfectly healthy 🙂

this is so reassuring. Just to show all babies are different & as health care providers they need to start using multiple ways of checking whether a baby is healthy or not.

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

Almost 37 weeks + told to do another growth scan

I just had my second to last doctor’s appointment this morning, and my OB told me she wants me to do another growth scan because my belly is measuring small. She says it’s probably just because I’m a smaller woman, but they like to be safe. It’s hard to hear though, since I just did one a couple months ago.

I did this with my firstborn around this time of pregnancy, so I do think I just carry smaller (even though I don’t feel like I look “small” at all). My first baby was 6lbs 15oz when she was born at 41 weeks + 2 days. I’m having this baby at 39 weeks on April 7. I hope she’s still at least 6lbs.

Anyone have any stories similar to this?
