Baby keeps slamming legs at night!

My 3.5 month old keeps picking his legs up and slamming them down in the crib at night! I've read that it's a soothing technique and I'm pretty sure we're also experiencing his 4 month sleep regression early. Does anyone else's little one do this? And how long did they do it for? Is there an end in sight for this WWE solo wrestling slam down??!!!?

My girl just started doing this, she’s just over 10 months. She’s been doing it for 2 weeks now 🫠

My girl as always kicked/banged her legs when she frustrated. Try sleeping him on his stomach?

My son used to wriggle like a caterpillar to soothe himself then he’d work his way to the top of the cot and hit his head of the cot we ended up having to change his cot so that it was quieter for head bashings because we got bumper pads and it was still insanely due to the type of head board the cot had! He never did it before until around 10 months and as the months went on he would get more bangy! Originally it would just be wiggling around and then progressed!

Turns out head banging to sleep and wiggling is normal! But I can’t be associated with a sleep disorder called rhymic sleep disorder if they continue doing it and don’t grow out of it! Luckily my son did grow out of it! But I was thinking the worst! And it would disturb my sleep too!! Took 2yrs though!

My twins also throw their heads around to sleep! No head banging thank god! But they throw their heads side to side and go ahhhhhh until they fall asleep.

I think I’ve created a punch of nut jobs tbh 😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️ hopefully not

My husband STILL does this and he is 36. So I do not know if there is an end in sight....
I have to physically put my leg over his to get him to stop

My baby did this around the same time 3-4 months and did it for about 2 months. He's 7 months now and hasn't done it in a while.

Funnily enough I was just about to post something similar. Our 5 month old has been doing it for about a month now. It's really annoying cos it disturbs our sleep too. Hope he stops it soon!

Yes, indeed it's called whale tailing. They've got such a power in their little legs, and they are wo noisy while doing it that it resembles whale's powerful tail 🐋 . My LB started doing this when he was maybe 3-4 months and has possibly stopped doing that, he is just turning 6 months. Although not completely sure if he's stopped as he is in his cot so I don't hear it / see it. It used to drive me crazy when he was next to me in the bassinet, so loud and disturbing 🙈 it never used to wake him up, only us. My partner ended up using ear plugs at night. The whole snuz pod was swinging, rocking - that's what he found soothing I assume and he also released trapped gas. 🤷‍♀️

My kid used to bop his head down on the mattress at that age and now he's two and he still does it I hear bop bop bop for about 5-10 minutes he does it softly but after that he's asleep so I'm not sure their self soothing activity goes away

I love when they do that. Means I don’t have to check if they are breathing right then lol
They do grow out of it pretty quickly though.

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
