In my province
If the temperature reaches or exceeds -35°C or the wind chill reaches or exceeds -45°C by about 6:10 a.m

Oh wow! Okay, because I’m a tad worried my youngest who’s about 1 1/2 is gonna be cold on our 10-15 minute walk there to bus stop and than another 10-15 minute walk back home

In my city, it never stops.

oh my gosh. That’s crazy!

Try contacting strathcona county and asking but being in Alberta it’s probably similar to Manitoba. When I lived in grande prairie and my brothers took the bus it was only ever cancelled if the roads were too icy from freezing rain

And it’s going to be cold for quite a few days I live in Sherwood park too and they aren’t going to cancel and entire week of school. You might have to drive your child to the bus stop

I had to be at work by 8am and leave babies in daycare which were 30-40 min walk ( counting the time I was stopping to put bottles in their mouth or having them finish their breakfast ). In the coldest days I took subway which made the walk down to 10 min. I used the 7am stroller and car seat cover up. They were super warm and toasty inside . Me not so much, cold freezing hands and super hot inside for all the pushing through the snow. Sorry I used your post to vent 😭 .
As long as they are properly dress and the stroller cover, they are fine. The worst days -20 or below I would take a cab. Prob no more than 5 days in all the winter in Toronto
