Late bedtime!

My 10 month old since Christmas has now started waking up late - around 8:15 - 8:45am and not going to sleep until 9:30pm🙃

I feel this is quite late! Anyone else got late bedtimes and wake up? I mean, I’m not complaining but according to his wake windows his first nap out of 2 is going to be like 12pm!!

We’re in a very similar situation, and I don’t really know how to correct it. I had to wake our LO this morning, as I had commitments. My husband said she needs an earlier nap, so we can put her to bed earlier, as it’s been a struggle. But, short of waking a perfectly sleeping baby first thing in the morning, I don’t know how we’re going to adjust! 🤣

oh I hate waking them especially when they’re in a deep sleep and it takes a while to wake them 🙈 I’ve thought about capping naps but he’s just so grumpy! And of course, won’t go to sleep earlier than his usual nap/bedtime so can’t do that lol

We've been having this issue too. Our HV told us to wake him earlier, and it kinda seems to be working, but he's having an extra daytime nap and sleeping slightly less at night. Im just sticking with it and hoping he decides to go to bed earlier and drop a nap over time.

Our little lady goes to bed between 8:30-9:30 pm and wakes up many times a night but is up for the day from.9-9:30 am.

Wake wee one 15 mins earlier then a few days later 15 min earlier again, continue until you get to your designated wake time. I aim for 0630 for a 1900 bedtime. At 10 months baby needs around 11-12 hours overnight so daytime overall needs to be minimum of 12 - 13 hours. To wake wee one peacefully I just crack the door of her room and turn down her white noise slightly and go about my day, eventually the daylight and noise rouses her. Her circadian rhythm will kick in eventually to be at an earlier wake time which will result in an earlier bedtime. Just be careful to do it slowly in 15 min increments.

I was in the same boat. It’s hard when they’re sleeping peacefully but it’s best for them in the long run to wake up at 0700 and avoid naps after 1530 if possible to build sleep pressure ☺️

Our LO goes to bed between 9:30pm and 10:15pm (depending on when the last nap was and how long). She wakes up around 10pm. It really works for me, as I’m quite flexible with lunch etc.

My current problem is that she has decided that sleeping at 9:30pm should be treated as a nap and decides to wake up within 1hr (sometimes only half hour!) and refuses to sleep until midnight 😫 I’m hoping it’s just a phase because I need that hour for myself again 🤦‍♀️

We wake usually between 8 and 9 in the morning, and she's well ready for bed at 8pm with 2 naps during the day!

Our little one goes to bed at 7ish most nights, but wakes between 4:30-6:30 with 2 naps so not sure which is better/worse! I think as long as they’re getting enough sleep overall surely it doesn’t matter when! ☺️

Avatar

oh my gosh exact same! I don’t mind the later bedtime and later wake time but the waking after an hour and refusing to sleep until midnight is getting a tad waring!

the irony of it now is: for the last two nights she has gone down ok and not woken up, but I’m the one that can’t sleep 😫 then as soon as I get sleepy, she starts moving around. I’m so tired 🥱

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
