Any tips for EBF baby to take a bottle?

My little boy used to have a bottle of breast milk a day and was never fussy with teats or bottle type. For the last month he’s stared refusing a bottle, now to the point he screams if a teat even goes near his mouth☹️.

Any tips for how you introduced a bottle? I really want to be able to pop out for a few hours here and there and not worry he’s screaming the house down!

I find my girl takes the bottle best first thing in the morning, I guess because they tend to get grouchier as the day goes on.

There’s definitely an ideal mood that’s hard to obtain - she needs to be hungry enough to take it, but not so hungry that she’s going to cry and want the comfort of breastfeeding.

I find it can take her a solid 10+ mins to take even 30ml, but I keep offering it and eventually she takes me up on the offer.

It’s important not to force it on them, let them refuse it and re-offer a few moments later

yeah I tried first thing today as that’s his happiest and he screamed as soon as it touched his mouth, it was awful.

You’re definitely right there with the perfect mood. I’m almost put of trying now because if he starts his wake window upset it’s hard to come back from it ☹️!

My little boy was the same. He used to take a bottle a day and all of a sudden after his 8 week jabs be came Very fussy. I found that getting ahead of the hunger works. For example at the time I used to feed mine every 3 hours and I used to get the bottle ready and feed him at 2.5 hours and so I didn't let him get to the hungry stage where he cries for it and he took it perfectly. I also found that mid feed if he burped and took a break he wouldn't take it again because he likes it at the perfect temperature 😂 we have nicknamed him Goldilocks because of it 😂. I hope this helps!

this started after we had our 12 week ones too!! That’s a really good idea with the ahead of hunger, I will give that a try thank you. Also absolutely the same with the temperature thing.. we’d stop to burp too and then that was it he wouldn’t take anymore! Fussy things aren’t they 😂

Agreed! I really hope it does work if you get ahead of the feed time. Another thing is also we stopped burping mid way because he's not really had a problem releasing the burps at the end - this has helped in finishing the full feed quite quickly.

If your LO is asleep when your milk is ready don't bother waking them just pop a drop of milk on their lips and they might take it whilst sleeping (this helped us a lot too)

thanks for your help they are really good tips! Thank you ☺️! X

Maybe try feeding from one boob and then offer the bottle, just so He gets used to it again. He might be happy/full enough not to get upset?

I could have wrote this myself! Struggling with the same problem with my 14 week old. 🤦‍♀️😩

I had the same problem for weeks. I then tried giving him a bottle of formula instead of expressed breast milk and he took a full 5oz! Not sure if he just associated the breast milk with me and was frustrated not getting it his usual way! I’m going to try again now with breast milk in it instead but it is a relief to know I can now leave him with family or his dad can feed him x

If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.
