I always put my son to sleep without fail. By choice just because when my partner has tried he just cries or it would just take a very long time and if he falls asleep it would just be because he’s tired himself.
I know I should let him do it more because if I’m not there etc he would have no choice. It just is easier when I am there and I hate hearing him cry it just hurts my heart so I just do it.
Now my mum is telling me I should let my partner do it because if I’m not there he will have to and I’m letting him get away with it. Regardless of whether she’s right or not it just made me feel rubbish.

You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. If you’re happy not to go out in the evenings for the foreseeable future then ignore your mum and keep doing bedtime yourself for as long as you want to!
If you do want your partner to be able to do it, maybe go for a quick walk or pop to the shops or to see a friend while bedtime is underway so that you don’t have to listen to the crying 😊
