1 year and 7 month

Hey everyone my son is 1 year and 7 months old will

Has anyone's child been going through a sleep regression around that age ?

My son normally is a really good sleeper, but he has been so hard to get to sleep lately, he has been fighting and just been screaming anytime I put him near his cot.

He has never been the one to sleep in mums and dads bed, but lately it been the only way I can get him to fall asleep, but it still takes longer then 2 hours some times which isn't normal for him 😴

On top of not getting to sleep early, he has been waking up in the middle of the night, and not wanting to go back to sleep till 6 and 7 in the morning 😴

What's his routine? What time does he wake and go to bed, and how long does he nap?

He normally goes to sleep around 8 and sleeps to 6:30 or 7 and normally only has a 2 hour nap during the day 😴

The same is happening to my little guy, we cut the day nap to 1hr 30mins, which helped a little because it made him more tired but allot of it is needing connections so I have to lay with him to sleep. (Not very helpful sorry)

I have been experiencing similar. It is like mine has just realised that it's only him going to sleep and he has FOMO. mine also now seems to wake round 1:40am like clockwork and acts like he is having a night terror or experiencing growing pains/discomfort in his legs. He is not happy about being in his usual snuggle position in our rocking chair. If he falls back asleep and is put back into his cot it is only for 20min till he starts crying again. Usually after the third put down I give in and let him kick us all morning in bed and noone gets any sleep; but at least there isn't more crying.

have you considered you might be aiming for too much sleep? Babies sleep needs change regularly, you're aiming for 13 hours of total sleep on a 24 hour period which might be too much. My bub hasn't been able to sleep for that long in a day since he was about 10 months old.
I'd recommend putting him to sleep a bit later, as it sounds like he's not tired enough at bed time, and perhaps cutting the nap a bit shorter too

Thanks everyone for the information, I'll try and keep him up a little longer of a night and and cut his day nap and see how we go

I can see that he is definitely tired but he just keeps on going sometime, we will see how we go tonight with leaving him a little longer

My son is exactly the same age and for the last 3 nights has been doing similar to this. I believe there is a sleep regression around the 18 month mark (some earlier, some later). I'm hoping it will sort itself out again soon. My son's always been a fantastic sleeper - still has 2-3 hour day naps, and sleeps 10-12 hours a night. Not ready for that to change too drastically yet.

Give this a read:

You'll have to push his bedtime back or should the day nap under 90mins. The best way to go about it is in 15min increments each day until you work out how many hours he needs in the 24hr period

Other option is to do the Mama and me resilience method by Andrea Fallon which goes into much more depth about every scenario

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
