I plan to breastfeed, should I be buying bottles and a steriliser just in case I need to pump/give baby formula. Feeling very confused!

I’ve got both as I want to breast feed and if he takes to it if I’m out or any reason my partner needs to feed him he can use a bottle I got all my stuff of Facebook market pace for cheap

It's really up to you and what you decide to do, if you want to try and pump too then you'll need a couple of bottles and of course any bottles/parts would need to be washed and sterilised before each use. MAM do some self sterilising bottles where you can stack it a certain way then add a cap of water and it can be sterilised in the microwave, something like that would save you having to buy a steriliser to begin with, then if you find you're feeding more with bottles you can rethink and get more of what you need xx
Thanks silly question but do you need to sterilise the bottles every time you use them if just breastfeeding? Or just before use for the first time?

Not a silly question at all but yes the general guidance is you should wash and sterilise after each use before you use them again - especially for very young babies. There are some places that will say you can probably get away with sterilising any feeding equipment just once a day as they get a bit older but the main thing is that there is no milk residue remaining in the bottles, teats etc. and we're eliminating any chance of bacteria starting to form that could cause sickness while the baby is still really small and still developing. So for any bottle feeding you would typically need bottle brushes to clean all the different parts, a drying rack and some kind of steriliser for when you want to get the parts ready to use. As baby gets older and develops better immunity / bacterial resistance you can start to relax it a bit. X
