My 27 months old boy just started day care for first time. Last week was 2 hours each day and we are increasing time this week. He stops crying after some time but keep looking for me. Today he even threw up when I left him. This breaks my heart and I am really questioning my decision to send him. We are both suffering from severe separation anxiety. I had ppd and I am still recovering from it with therapy so this is way too hard than I imagined. I work from home and earlier it was easy to work with him by my side but now it was getting tough with him needing all my attention. I really need some encouragement and tips for easy transition for both of us.

Honestly my little girl was the same in her settle sessions to the point I wasn’t going to send her or was going to find another Nursery. I had so many sleepless nights worrying.
BUTTTT … her first full day she eventually settled and ate, slept and played.
She hasn’t been back since due to illness (please prepare yourself for all the Nursery nasties 🦠 😖) but it’s take 2 tomorrow and keeping my 🤞🏼 for another successful day.
My advice is to stick with it, the tears are normal (and my therapist told me they’re an indication of a great bond). I know that doesn’t make it any easier though, the Mum guilt and separation anxiety is very real and I haven’t quite got a handle on that either.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. He had his first nap today. I feel a little bit ease today! Hope this goes well from here. My heart breaks a little bit every day I drop him off. But his daycare send me 1 or 2 pictures of him daily and that help me going!
