My LO is 16 months old and not saying many words, he does still use a dummy but surely he should be speaking more than a couple of words by now, slightly worried but also wondering what others of similar age are like and those who have been through this…. Any advice please??

My son is 18 months and doesn’t say many words. He says dada, hiya, bye, ball. He does try to copy words sometimes. I’m not too worried cause he understands lots of words. Example if I say get this object, or give this to dada he understands. I just see it that he’s taking it all in for now and expect one day he will start talking. My friends baby is saying loads but I just try not to compare them. He’ll get there eventually, just try to limit the dummy in the day x
Thank you ladies, appreciate your feedback.
Like your son Lauren, mine understands everything but just can’t get his words out, I like the idea that he’s taking it all in now and one day he will surprise us with all the words he’s collected! ☺️
I guess it’s true what they say, each child will develop on their own terms and times x I’ll try not to worry and just help him along

My little girl is nearly 18months and don't really say anything until a few weeks ago and now she won't shut up it just comes in time!

As long as you think his understanding is there. I wouldn’t worry x
