Pumping

Any tips to increase supply? I’m exclusively pumping at the moment until my baby starts breastfeeding directly. Each session I barely get a total of 3oz max. Started taking fenugreek capsules yesterday. I eat oatmeal daily, drink oatmilk, lots of water etc.

Are you pumping until you are empty? Also body armour helps

It helps if you pump every 2-3 hours to stimulate the milk production. I exclusively pumped with my first daughter and eating, drinking and pumping every 2-3 hours for the first couple of months really helped establish a supply

My LC said that fenugreek isn’t actually great for supply!
She also noted to EAT! Carbs, protein, fats - all of it. You should be eating at least 500 calories more.
But also frequent and consistent emptying. I exclusively pumped until my LO latched and I was doing 30 mins a session, every 3 hrs.
Occasionally I power pumped (15 on, 10 rest, 10 on, 10 rest, 10 on) twice a day for three days.

Be careful with fenugreek. It can definitely increase your supply, but in some people, it seriously tanks their supply as well.

Power pumping has helped me! Once or twice a day pump for 20 min, take a 10 min break, pump for 10, break for 10, pump for 10. This simulates cluster feeding and signals your body that your baby is going through a growth spurt and needs more milk.

Fenugreek is a hit or miss! Increases some people supplies while it decreases others! So be mindful of that.

I think I am..? I feel myself deflating but towards the end of my pump session I’m still producing few drops very very slowly. Does that mean I’m empty?
And yes I drink body armor as well

I’ve heard the same about fenugreek that it works for some and not for others so I wanted to test it out.
Eating is something I’m working on as well, it’s tough with a nb! Hard to find the time to eat let alone cook. How old was your LO when they latched?

I will try power pumping, thank you. Just hard to find the time with a NB who’s only cat napping lately 😭

Oatmeal helps

Try coconut oil & coconut milk. Keep drinking the oatmilk & oatmeal. But a the addition of the coconut oil & milk really helped my supply increase.

I drink lmnt electrolyte powder daily, is that the same thing as body armor?

I keep a supply of granola bars, dried fruit and trail mix by my two nursing stations which helps if you aren’t already doing something like that but I completely relate to the struggle of finding time to eat…I need a good baby wearing get up!

around the one month mark! Another issue my LC mentioned for my daughter was that she may just be getting too hungry by the time she was offered breast. Another thing we did was give her an ounce or so before attempting to latch

Make sure you keep taking prenatals!

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

At this point I’m not enjoying motherhood

My 22 month old is horrendous at the moment🫣 biting, hitting, pushing, pulling and shoving not only adults but children he also wants what other children have and will just snatch it away from them.

We repeat ‘nice hands’ ‘be gentle’ ‘let’s share’ etc

But how do I make him understand what he’s doing isn’t very nice? At the end of the day I feel like I’ve just been saying his name all day and nothing else.

What can I do?

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.
