Can anyone advise me, been off sick from work since I was 5 weeks pregnant due to having really bad sickness.Been in and out of hospital. I am now 23weeks pregnant and still being sick. I never thought about it but am I entitled to sick pay? My employer didn’t mention it as do they have to pay it? How does it work?

Check your contract of employment lovely, chances are they do have to pay but it will state within the contract how many weeks you’re entitled to full pay, half pay, statutory sick etc xx
This is the thing I didn’t get a contract. As it was a new job I started it was a new business and the owner kept saying she needs to get the contacts sorted. She still has done them as I have spoken to other individuals..

If you have no contract then they can get away with anything so if speak to your employer asap? Have you been receiving zero income from work whilst you’ve been off?
I don’t think I am going to get anywhere but thought it’s worth an ask, yeah haven’t been paid since I started that job. Guessing this means I am not entitled to mat pay either? I have found a new job which are happy to take me on. I start on the 1st feb and it’s WFH. So will be better for my sickness!

If you didn’t earn enough before you went sick then no they wouldn’t have to pay you statutory sick pay. If you started after you fell pregnant you wouldn’t be entitled to SMP either
what do you mean earn enough? Sorry for sounding blonde? But I don’t understand how it’s worked it x

If you google qualify for SSP it will come up. But basically you must have earn at least £123 a week since you started to qualify.
It doesn’t stipulate a minimum amount of time you have to have been employed but you must have earned something through them
