How many hours a day on average do you spend holding your baby? I’m looking for numbers. I feel guilty for taking breaks and want to know…if they’re happy and quiet, do you pick them up or leave them be? Do you feel bad for leaving them entertained in a swing, bouncer, pack and play?

I let mine play and I don’t feel guilty about it at all. I used to, but then my Obgyn told me that I should never feel guilty about taking time to myself if my baby is happy and content. They don’t need to be held 24/7. If they’re showing that they’re fine, all their needs are met, and they aren’t crying, then you shouldn’t feel guilty at all.

My baby just have 12 days and I’m a FTM, so I’m not really a reference and I wonder myself all the time if I hold my baby too much, but with exception of the long naps at night and a couple minutes tummy time twice a day, I hold her all the time, even the day naps I let her take at my breast. My husband took a month from work so it’s easier for me to have all this contact since he is making everything at home and I just have to recover from the c-section and breastfeed on free demand. We don’t have a bouncer or a swing, we have a dock a tot and a bassinet but she refuses to use them. When I’m showering or needing a time for myself he holds her. Is it too much?
God I wish I had a partner! I think “too much” is a silly concept. If you have the resources and can do that, enjoy and cherish it.
same. I’ll always make sure she knows she’s wanted. I just can’t tell sometimes if she’s sad being so quiet and hanging out. I try to tell myself she’s learning and to leave her alone, but my inner child tells me to pick that baby up!
