No can hold baby, taxis don't need car seat it's your choice xx
Hi, @Chleo, so do you mean that I can just call a larger car and as soon as I can fit the stroller inside, we should be good to go?
@Jess, my little one is 6 months now, I don't think it's save to just hold him in my arms while being on the ride.. Have you done this? Please share your experience if you had
It's much safer in a car seat but the idea is a taxi is for short periods, my dad's a taxi driver and he's never had any issues xx
@Bliss, well this is where I'm getting confused. The journey is about 40min and I'm wondering what's the best way to go about it. What would you recommend
Personally I’d ring the taxi company that you plan on using and asking them their policies as their policies will be in line with the law however some may state they will take children without car seats and some may state they won’t
If its a Hackney carriage (the ones with the taxi sign on top) then yes it's legal. Private hire and ubers may be different?
So when I went on our last abroad trip, we booked a taxi on advance to get to Heathrow, we told them we would like a car seat and it was all dandy. All the way home I had planned to take the train... after waiting a gazillion years for baggage, my kid being way then overtired for a nap and being 14 weeks pregnant I went for a last minute black cab. 1 hour journey. I held my girl the whole time, fed her to sleep, she napped the rest of the way home. All was absolutely fine. I will probably get roasted for this admission on here hy hey ho.
@Mou I would've done the same x
You can do that. You don’t have to have a car seat in a licensed cab.
