My boy is almost 3 months old and I love him to bits. I feel super guilty as I have moments in a day that I am just tired of entertaining him and would love to have a bit of time just to myself. Please tell me if I am a bad mom or you are feeling this way as well? As well please let me know what do you do with you little ones!

You are not a bad mum at all it’s hard entertaining a little one cause they do get bored very easily I also have a 3 month old boy and I swear he looks at me with boredom in his eyes but then I sit there of a night time thinking the same did I entertain him enough? But sometimes it is tiring i get tired and guilty for tv time for LO Because I’m not a performing monkey and I’d like to have just 10/15 minutes to have a coffee or use the toilet in peace 😂

Your not a bad mum at all, it’s hard work trying to entertain babies all day. I’ve a wee boy who doesn’t really nap much during the day so I feel like I’m constantly trying to find new things to entertain him with x

My LO is 10 weeks old and is awake most of the day now with just very short cat naps. I feel frazzled and exactly the same. Sometimes just want 10 mins to have a coffee, or to do some housework.
We always said no TV, but I gave in today and put baby sensory on as my nephew used to love it. After 5 mins my LO was mesmerised, quiet and content, even giggling at it. Then he fell asleep…I got loads done and feel much more me by the end of the day because of it.
We still do all the usual play, talking, tummy time. But adding this in gave me a well needed break in the day:

Not a bad mum at all!
I also don't think we need to entertain them constantly when they're awake. Literally everything is new so they can enjoy simply watching and learning from us getting on with bits around the house, narrating what we're doing
I often just lay mine under his play gym, switch up the hanging toys and let him get on with it for a few mins - he's entertained, learning (cause and effect etc) and I have time to do something for me 🙏

Just worrying about being a bad mom makes you a good mom, you care. Every mom feels like this some parts of the day. Young children are hard work. Go easy on yourself! You're allowed some time too. They are so young at this stage as has been said in previous replies they are entertained and learn a lot from everything even just observing the things you do. When we play and interact I usually sing nursery rhymes, read books with her and just talk to her. Otherwise it's playmats or baby bouncer to keep her entertained while I'm cleaning or getting things done

Exactly the same here. The dancing fruit YouTube videos and others for sensory/sleep are a lifesaver, even just so can go make a cup of tea or get breakfast etc. When my husband or parents take him for a bit although I manage to get a shower or pop to the shops on my own I end up missing the lil guy 🥹

You’re not a bad mum, you’re human. Be kind to yourself because it’s really hard work x

I honestly feel like we’ve been misled by things like baby sensory and Instagram videos about creative toys people make from stuff at home with their little ones. For babies EVERYTHING is new and interesting, they’ve never experienced the world before! Even going for a walk, they get the breeze, the changes in light and sounds, birdsong, vibrations from the pram, the patterns of the trees, loads of sensory stimulation. They’re being stimulated most of the time they’re awake regardless of what you’re doing, and they need time to process all of that. Unless they’re in a barren wasteland with no human interaction or engagement and never overhearing conversations im sure they’re fine (very aware of the Romanian orphanages scenario but that’s SO extreme)! There are so many things to make you feel like you can and should always be doing “more” but honestly mama you’re doing amazingly I’m sure. I’m no paediatrician but there’s so much pressure to perform as a mum and it’s honestly silly

Not a bad mum. The honest truth is that babies are pretty boring at this age. Chuck him on a play gym or something for 20 minutes.
I make sure I make time for myself, like now, it's currently after 11 and I'm here eating snacks and watching TV whilst baby is in bed, dad is upstairs with him. This is my time

Why would you be a bad mum? The baby needs to learn to entertain themselves too and you still have a life! Don’t feel guilty at all. I read that the baby only needs around an hour of play per day on top of interaction during feeds, etc.
Thank you for all your supporting messages. I feel the mom guilt all the time and I just need to remember that I need to still look after myself as well.

Just because you need a break, it doesn't make you a bad mom at all, it makes you a human being. I feel the same. Often I can't wait to pass my LG to her dad on an evening just so I can have abit of time to decompress cause its hard work carrying a little one around all day trying to keep them happy. I absolutely adore my baby but I will never feel guilty for needing some time out from being a full time mom and no other mom should ever feel guilty either xx
