Breastfeeding and weight loss

Hey ladies! I am 3 months pp and I am my heaviest I've ever been, it's really starting to take its toll on me mentally

Everyone is speak to about trying to lose weight while breastfeeding says I won't lose anything and I will just compromise my milk supply, which I don't want to do as I am solely breastfeeding

Anyone managed to lose weight while breastfeeding?

I lost all my pregnancy weight bf. I'm also not using any birth control. I noticed a friend of mine couldn't lose weight until she was off her bc.

ahh this gives me hope 😊 I'm not on any bc so hopefully that helps

I lost my pregnancy weight whilst bf. I think everyone’s bodies react differently though. I know a lot of women say that BF makes them super hungry but I never experienced that tbh - it just made me really thirsty in the early days. I don’t think all my weight loss is down to BF either. I have a very hyper dog that needs walked at least twice a day and I baby wear a lot, so I think that’s helped too.

Avatar

yeah I think that needs to be something I do more, only walking every other day, get active and get that weight off
I must admit my appetite is more, but I think that's more down to being at home more

I've lost all the additional pregnancy weight but I still have a lot to lose and its not shifting 🤣 I was always under the impression that breastfeeding makes you skinny 🤣

I was told breastfeeding would help with weight loss but the breastfeeding munchies are real. I lost weight very quickly but by about 6 months pp I was heavier than pre-birth. The reason they say to watch weight whilst breastfeeding is that making milk uses calories so if you calories restrict that can tank the supply. I’m 9.5pp now and instead of doing any diet changes at the minute I’ve started going to the gym 2 times a week. I do notice I’m hungry after a workout though so I’m going to try a protein bar after I finish to see if that helps.

i second the walking and babywearing , great way how to keep fit while interacting with your baby.
Plus babies are great extra weight lol

Stay super hydrated. I focus on getting out daily but I love warm weather. I'll do home workouts too.

Also for me the biggest thing is snacking while I'm home so I'll take postpartum apple cider vinegar and it curbs it for me.

haha that's what I thought! Was thinking the weight would fall off haha

Avatar

yeah I feel like I'm putting on with the breastfeeding munchies! Does seem being active is definitely the way forward

Avatar

amazing thank you! I will give them a try as the snacking is so hard to resist, can't wait for the weather to improve so I can get out and active more

Avatar

amazing, I have just got a new baby carrier which he really enjoyed so that's great incentive to get out and about more

Avatar

its hard in the winter
But now the weather will hopefully start getting better

BF hormones can also prevent you from losing weight too. At least I’m hoping that’s my issue…I’m 9.5 pp and have not lost any weight since giving birth. Despite going through periods of calorie tracking, and working out every day. Eventually I stopped bothering with counting calories.

I’ve since talked to a lot of women who lost the weight quickly when they weaned. Exercise makes my body feel better so I’m trying to lean into that more than worrying about the scale right now 😅

I lost all my pregnancy weight and more breastfeeding! I'm over 2 years in now exclusively breastfeeding, and I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight as she doesn't feed as much!!

I lost all the weight, not all the inches but its getting there. I'm an active person and my LO had to get used to long pram walks every day. Had a bit of a wobble recently he started to cry in the pram a bit with 4 month sleep regression but we are getting through it. You could also use a sling. I definitely eat more than during pregnancy

I’m 3 months PP and have lost all the weight but I don’t think its from breastfeeding. Ive been going on walks since she was born and once i was cleared to start working out i was back to running and lifting weights at the gym.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.
