Going from breastfeeding to formula 🤯

My LO has been exclusively breast fed since birth we tried a few bottles early on and he would drink a small about but never a proper feed.

He is now nearly 8 months and I can’t seem to get him to take any formula.

I have tried all within reason formulas and bottles and teets he will take water fine from a bottle but not milk and I use formula milk for certain breakfast to get him used to the taste.

Any tips for transitioning this late?

Have you tried mixing with breast milk and slowly reducing the amount of breast milk in each bottle x

You can try giving the formula in a cup or beaker, at that age it may help with eventual transition to drinking everything from a cup

My little boy was soo fussy with bottles but he started taking it when we were giving empty bottles to play with during his wake windows.

It also helped that my partner gave him a bottle when I wasn’t in view. So for us that meant my partner would get up with him in the morning (and he wouldn’t see me at all) and give him his first feed of the day.

I honestly think he only took it in the end because we were so persistent and made sure we were offering it at least once every single day.

Good luck!

It took weeks, but I started offering bottle first every single daytime feed, then if he wouldn’t take it I topped up with breast milk. He now drinks about 5oz in most feeds.

He will still only drink in a darkened room and the milk has to be warm though.

yes so he drinks water from bottle/ beaker and he’s even trailing cups with handles but when he tastes the milk he literally spits it out šŸ˜‚

I do think I could be more persistent thank you šŸ¤

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needsšŸ˜… but no real signs of crawling yet.

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!
