OMG the itching!!!

I’m 6 days post emergency c section and the itching is still so intense all down my legs I’m literally cutting my skin.

Anyone else had this and did you find anything to help I’m on antihistamine and using camomile lotion and different moisturisers.

Girl yes! I told one of the doctors and he dismissed it and said he did t see a rash so he couldn’t tell me?? But didn’t tell me that it might be a normal pp thing 😞. I used oatmeal soap and lots of caladryl and hydrocortisone

Yes, had this for 6 weeks. Look up PUPPS. You can try lots of things but ultimately PUPPS is a self limiting condition so it will go on it's own at some point...which is the last thing I wanted to hear as I had scratched myself to the point of bleeding all over my body.
I applied dermol 500 which was the best out of everything I tried. You have to hydrate your skin.
I have tried eurax, 2 menthol creams, one lot of antibiotics and a steroid cream.
I had read about using an Aveeno cream but didn't try it myself.
There is a PUPPS support group on peanut where you can read about other's recommendations and what they tried.

Actually, for us in UK it is known as PEP but I found far more info under PUPPS.

Is it from the stockings?
Compression stockings for the section can dry your skin a bit, I was advised to keep them on for a while after returning home so after washing I had to put them back on.
If you can shave or exfoliate (get your partner to help if it's uncomfortable to bend) & lathered on a load of moisturiser it will def help.
I wouldn't use antihistamines if your breastfeeding as I've heard it can dry your supply x

I used antihistamines as prescribed. I have also been breastfeeding the entire time and it didn't affect me but you never know how it might work for you.
Eurax was also not recommended when breastfeeding so I only applied a small amount to a small part of my body as otherwise I would have had to put it all over my body bad my back. This was again prescribed and discussed with my GP

I think it’s this as well as I had really bad itching all though out my 3rd trimester and all liver test where normal it’s honestly so awful 🤦🏼‍♀️ i thought it would start to ease off now I have had here but seems to be getting worse

Avatar

I haven’t been in compression socks since day 3 as they midwife said I was active enough and didn’t need them I though it was this making it worse but it wasn’t

@Jasmine honestly, I hope I was just a flannel, or I had a bad case of it because I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It significantly affected me and how I coped with everything motherhood threw me.
Do try everything prescribed or safe, badger your GP and if you find it helps then good riddance to it.
Dermacool really helped when the itchiness was really hot but this was usually at night time and I was terrified of it coming in contact with my baby when breastfeeding or mindleslly scratching.

I have super sensitive skin and get really itchy sometimes, to the point I scratch so much I make myself bleed. The best thing I ever use is literally just ice packs! Works wonders. May be worth a try?

Avatar

Girl, I was the same.
🌟 benadryl 🌟 helped me out a lot.

The itching was so bad that it looked like i was being attacked. Lol

My nurses were so worried

It's from the Morphine! Are you taking the liquid morphine for pain relief? The morphine tablets I had in hospital made me soooo itchy I wanted to rip my skin off! Weaned myself off the liquid morphine at home and the itching and shakes stopped. If you still need it for pain relief then ask if they have an alternative for you

Avatar

@Katie The epidural can cause extreme itching, too.
My skin was terrible
@Jasmine, try benadryl, and if you are on Morphine, try to see if you can get switched to Acetaminophen or another opioid.

I had this when i had a c.section 6 months ago, literaly nothing the doctor gave me worked, have cool showers and use lots of the steroid creme if the doctor has prescribed you any xx

Avatar

Thank you everyone I’m not breastfeeding and also not on any pain meds I take occasional paracetamol that’s it same after I had her

How long did it take to go or at least ease

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Baby names

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

Almost 37 weeks + told to do another growth scan

I just had my second to last doctor’s appointment this morning, and my OB told me she wants me to do another growth scan because my belly is measuring small. She says it’s probably just because I’m a smaller woman, but they like to be safe. It’s hard to hear though, since I just did one a couple months ago.

I did this with my firstborn around this time of pregnancy, so I do think I just carry smaller (even though I don’t feel like I look “small” at all). My first baby was 6lbs 15oz when she was born at 41 weeks + 2 days. I’m having this baby at 39 weeks on April 7. I hope she’s still at least 6lbs.

Anyone have any stories similar to this?
