Nursery and contact naps?

My baby only contacts during the day, does anyone know if nurseries request that you sleep train before they start?

Hello, nursery worker here…it’s been a long time since I worked in the baby room but they don’t request to be sleep trained.
When they start nursery, you will be able to give full details of your routine, including bottles, nap times/nap lengths if necessary etc.
they may encourage your child throughout the day to take a nap in a cot and see how they get on.
It may take a few days of your little one being exhausted anyway from a full on day at nursery and eventually they will just sleep, even if for 20 mins to start off with because of such a busy and new exciting environment!
You may find that they actually sleep better at nursery eg. In a cot or on a sleep mat !

We used to have children who ate so much but ate very little at home, who slept long naps but used to have half hour naps at home…used to drive the parents wild!🤣

Hi, also a fellow nursery worker, who works in a baby room.
A lot of children have come in who contact nap. I usually talk with the parent and explain that obviously we can’t sit and contact nap however we can take steps to work towards the cots. I start with rocking them to sleep, then popping them on a mat next/near to me so they’re still close to someone. Once they’re more settled I introduce the cots. It takes a while but after a little while they do become settled in a cot.
My 2021 daughter was 9 months when she started nursery & she was a strictly contact napper. I worked 40 hours a week so she went to nursery in that time. They rocked her for a while then made several attempts to put her down. Eventually she became more settled and started sleeping in a little snooze pod they had. I did start putting her in a cot for one nap at least when we were at home. But still contact napped mostly.

Should I be concerned or am I overthinking?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s recently taken his first steps and he says mamma and dadda and baba (he has said these for months) we’ve filled out the paperwork for his 12-14 month review and it looks like he isn’t meeting many of his milestones.

He doesn’t copy actions, point, clap etc. He doesn’t react when being spoken to, or to his name. He actively avoids eye contact.

He was so unresponsive to sound that we just had his hearing tested concerned he was deaf. They found that he could hear so he is just choosing not to react to any noises or sounds.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with their little ones? Should I be raising this with the health visitor and ask to be assessed for neurodivergent issue or a social communication problem like autism?

I don’t want to just slap a label on him, but I do feel that there are real concerns. All opinions welcome!!

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

Bed time tips for 8 week old

So I literally cannot get my 8 week down to sleep before 11:30pm every night no matter how early we start our routine. We tend to do bath every second night but every night consists of feed, up to bed, into pjs, book, feed to sleep. We could start this routine at 7 and it would still be the case of not selling til 11:30.

She doesn’t nap during the day well, we get a 30 minute in the morning, and a 1 hour in the afternoon only if I’m out the house. She’s never distressed when she’s awake all that time, quite the thing being nosey and having cuddles. She’s EBF and her feeds all through the day are LONG and last from 30-45 mins each feed.

Any tips/advice recommended on how to get to bed earlier or just how to get her to sleep in general.
