Has anyone used carobel milk thickener for their baby with acid reflux ?

Basically my baby is 6 weeks old and he suffers with very severe acid reflux, we were prescribed carobel thickener yesterday so that he would stop vomiting. When it was prescribed I was told that I can put 1 scoop in his milk or maybe a little more if it doesn’t appear thick enough depending on how many ounces I’m giving him. The box didn’t appear to have a scoop inside it so I decided to use the scoop from my babies formula box (not knowing that the scoop is significantly bigger) I only realized today when the scoop fell out the bottom of the box and I started panicking when I realized how tiny it is compared. I’m really worried as I’ve been using the formula scoop for every bottle since yesterday. However The carobel has been working as my son hasn’t vomited since being put on it. But im just so worried as obviously he has had so much more than what he was meant to. The doctor that prescribed the carobel did say though that as it is a natural thickener it is kind of a trial and error thing as too how much I put in but I’m sure he did not mean at all as much as I’ve accidentally been using . Google isn’t really telling me anything other than side effects of using carobel like gas and loose stalls which he had one loose stall today. Apart from that he appears to be okay and obviously now that I know I will not be using that scoop but I’m still just so worried I feel like a terrible mum

I used carobel with my little one and we were told to play about with the consistency. However, it didn’t work for us no matter what and was just making my little one very constipated.

If you’re worried give your doctor or 111 a call for advice. They might just tell you to stop using it for a day or 2 to let it all pass through his system.

Honestly don’t feel like a bad mum. Mistakes happen especially in the early days with how tired we all are x

yeah to be honest baby looks well and he hasn’t been vomiting at all which is good since he literally could not hold anything down before the carobel and he’s only had one loose stool. I’m kinda scared to call 111 as I don’t want them to think I’m a terrible mum if that makes any sense but he looks fine and he’s not showing any signs of being in pain which is good. But yea maybe I’ll just give him a little break from it and pray he dosent vomit too much. It does make me feel a bit better though that you were also told that you could play around with the consistency

My little girl is on carobel and I've been told to play around with the consistency too. I'd still add it to his bottles just using the little scoop and see how he is with less. If it doesn't work as well then you know to add more for the next bottle. You're not a terrible mum! We're all just winging it anyway x

Honestly you aren’t a bad mam at all. We all make mistakes from time to time which is completely normal and understandable but as long as he is fine in himself then that’s really good. But yeah I would give him a break for many even just a day to make sure it doesn’t bung him up. It sounds like you’re doing a really good job though😊x

thankyou🥺 and yes he’s been fine however I did stop giving it to him for a few feeds so that he could have a break and he went back to vomiting so I’ve started it again but with less and he’s back to keeping his milk down 😊 he’s doing well though everything seems to be fine now that I’m using less and I feel a lot better about the situation now too. But Yeah I’ve been telling myself everyone makes mistakes I’m just glad it wasn’t with any real medication and just the milk thickener 😩😩😩😩

Should I be concerned or am I overthinking?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s recently taken his first steps and he says mamma and dadda and baba (he has said these for months) we’ve filled out the paperwork for his 12-14 month review and it looks like he isn’t meeting many of his milestones.

He doesn’t copy actions, point, clap etc. He doesn’t react when being spoken to, or to his name. He actively avoids eye contact.

He was so unresponsive to sound that we just had his hearing tested concerned he was deaf. They found that he could hear so he is just choosing not to react to any noises or sounds.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with their little ones? Should I be raising this with the health visitor and ask to be assessed for neurodivergent issue or a social communication problem like autism?

I don’t want to just slap a label on him, but I do feel that there are real concerns. All opinions welcome!!

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

Bed time tips for 8 week old

So I literally cannot get my 8 week down to sleep before 11:30pm every night no matter how early we start our routine. We tend to do bath every second night but every night consists of feed, up to bed, into pjs, book, feed to sleep. We could start this routine at 7 and it would still be the case of not selling til 11:30.

She doesn’t nap during the day well, we get a 30 minute in the morning, and a 1 hour in the afternoon only if I’m out the house. She’s never distressed when she’s awake all that time, quite the thing being nosey and having cuddles. She’s EBF and her feeds all through the day are LONG and last from 30-45 mins each feed.

Any tips/advice recommended on how to get to bed earlier or just how to get her to sleep in general.
