Big baby at 20 weeks

Had my scan today at 20w3d and was told baby is 15 oz, which puts him close to 95 percentile. I’m now worried this is too big. Is it a sign of gestational diabetes? I also have to admit I’ve been putting more weight than I should have, about 16 pounds so far. I’ve been suffering from nausea and eating frequently helps me (nausea is worse when I’m hungry). Anyone else gone through this? I don’t really care about having a vaginal birth so that’s not my main worry, but just wondering why could the baby be measuring ahead at this point.

I’m on the same boat as you! At 21 weeks my girl is a pound! I’ve also gained the same weight. Hopefully it’s not gestational for either of us.

Same. I’ve gained 20 lbs already. They’ll test you for it at 28 weeks. It’s fine if you have it. You can take meds if managing your diet doesn’t work. Baby will be fine.

23w today. Also in same boat, at 19w5d baby was 1lb, 99 percentile. My OB wasn’t worried, but will keep a close eye on things bc I’m high risk for age, bc of mutiple miscarriages, hx of preeeclampsia, small placental abruption current pregnancy at 17w. We are gonna check for GD at 28w.

Those ultrasounds are guesswork. My "average" measuring baby was 9Ibs 5.1oz. My baby that measured tiny (20th percentile) was in the 60th percentile when she was born. A dear friend of mine agreed to an elective cesarean because she was told her baby was going to be like 12Ibs by his due date and he wasn't even 7Ibs. They can usually give you a general idea but they are not to be counted on. Also some people just have big babies, it's not necessarily indicative of a problem. And it's a lot more common if you or your husband were big babies. Also I delivered my biggest vaginally without an epidural and he was my first. Big babies don't mean you have to have a C-section if you decide you want a vaginal birth. *Hugs* try not to stress, you are doing great. Also while you don't want to gain too much weight, there is definitely a range of normal and weight gain sometimes goes in spurts rather than following that perfect smooth curve the chart shows you.

I gain a ton of weight during pregnancy (40+ lbs) and my babies are big (10+ lbs) but no gestational diabetes! Some people are just built different. My current was 98 percentile at 20 weeks.

I had my anatomy scan at 21w and all the baby’s was measurements were typical for 23w/24ws. Off the charts, big baby. Some measurements not even in the percentiles anymore.
They said they might change my due date.
I read that there are other factor besides gestational diabetes, like genetics or moms BMI .
Doc wants to go another anatomy scan in my 3rd trimester to see where we stand

On the final stretch.. How we feeling ladies?

Not long left to go for our May babies ladies!!! I’m 35 weeks now and I’m honestly so over being pregnant at this point everything hurts, I’m restless and always uncomfortable and quite frankly just not enjoying these last few weeks at alllllll! Baby girl has been head down since 32 weeks and always pressing on my bladder so the constant peeing is another added extra and don’t even get me started on the lightning crotch!!!

How is everyone else feeling?

(Cheeky little bump update) people keep saying it looks like my bump has dropped but I really don’t see or feel like it has at all so not sure what others are seeing 🤷🏽‍♀️

C section overnight stay and a toddler

I will have an elective c section for my second baby (same as my first).

With my first, my partner stayed with me in the hospital overnight and helped me a lot with the baby so I had a pretty smooth recovery and was up and running 5 days postpartum.

Now, we need to decide if we should ask family members to come over (from abroad) and help with our toddler or we try to do the coordination/ management ourselves.

The hospital is only a 10 minute drive from our place and during the day my toddler will be at nursery (and my partner will be with me). I think I can handle 1-2 nights by myself at the hospital with the baby but I’m little concerned how would I lift the baby on day 1 given I will have a catheter. I don’t want to solely be relying on midwives. And if I fall asleep during the night, I’m also a bit worried about nobody looking after the baby.

You would think I would remember how it was the first night with my first but it’s all a blur.

What would you recommend if you had 2 c-sections and the same situation? Did you ask family to help?

Thanks!

Scan at 40+ weeks, anyone had a later scan?

Hi guys, I’ve got a scan booked in with the NHS to ensure my placenta is working well and baby is okay. For a bit of a back story, on Monday early hours I went to triage as baby wasn’t moving too much. They monitored me, all was well with his movements and heart beat in the end, but ended up seeing a doctor as she wanted to talk about inducing me. I said no to induction, however agreed to a sweep (I think I’ve lost my mucus plug and have been having slight contractions, but nothing major), so have another sweep booked at 41 weeks and induction booked for 41+1 weeks. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had a scan later in pregnancy due to similar circumstances? I’m kinda nervous for this scan out of all the ones I have had previous. I am considered low risk and have been throughout the pregnancy x

Elective section before 39 weeks?

I've got elective section booked for 39+3, they won't do it any earlier because they don't do them before 39 weeks. They don't do them on weekends or certain days of the week apparently which is why earliest I can have is 39+3. I'm terrified of going into natural labour. Is this the same in most hospitals?
