Anger at diaper changes

I just need to know if I’m alone in this? I have been having a hard time managing my frustration during diaper changes. My son is 18m and won’t stop arching, alligator rolling, you name it. I often change him standing up cause it’s so bad. I have to have my husband take over sometimes cause I can feel the anger swelling up inside me. He pees through his diaper when it’s not on well. I just don’t know why he fights it so hard and just don’t want to get angry at my beautiful baby.

Hey girl! Yes, I helped my sister changed diapers. I changed diapers of my kids and we all are just very independent is wrong people! I totally feel this frustration when I was changing diapers and all I can say is take a deep breath and just think about how wonderful it is that they have the strength. If there is something you can do to distract him or give him a little treat when he sits still just keep trying different things something will click.

I've honestly had to resort to giving my 11 month old something he knows he's not allowed just to get through it like the nappy cream tub or my phone or the remote just for him to let me change his bum it's very difficult and I understand the frustration I just make sure I take lots of deep breaths xx

Hey mama! Give urself some grace especially as a first time mom cuz we are all learning :)
My son just turned 2.5 yrs old and when he is/was very busy & used to “over-power” during diaper change! It was over whelming so I completely relate to the struggle. Bt enough abt me my long story short is I switched to the pull up diapers when my son was around 18months also maybe even younger lol u need to get like the underwear kind of diapers. So your not spending time on trying to snap the damn “Velcro” sides of the diapers together while ur son is doing those alligator rolls lol he is a toddler now so he will do wat toddler do bt these diapers willl jus go on like underwear! Hope this helps cuz it was advice I was given from another mom & it was a game changer! U will like it especially since u said u sometimes change him while standing up! I never went to “regular” diapers ever again :)

I switched to pull ups for this reason and it’s much better!! My LG used to drive me insane during a nappy change 🤣 I’ve found pull ups are quicker and she can stand up, roll, whatever if she wants 🤣 I can still get the pull ups on regardless x

Do pull-ups still work when they aren’t potty trained? I know that may be a dumb question but he’s my first.

lol we are all advising u as first time moms too, so it’s our first and the advice we are giving u is from other experienced moms! So girl of course it works! Switch to pulls up!! Don’t doubt it! Ur son is 1.5, they are ready for pulls up! U will not regret it!!!

Yes they absolutely do! My lg isn’t really potty training yet x

My 8 month old does this and I have to hold her arms down with my feet 🥴

I would take him out of daytime diapers, my son was like this from about 13-15 months old and I just had it, not recognizing that he was over diapers too and wanting to be more independent. But after we started potty training he was much happier, way less mess even if they don’t make it to the toilet all the way, and when they do it’s really great for them! It’s going to take longer than if you wait till they are 3 or whatever but I can’t imagine having waited any longer with my oldest.

Avatar

Yep my little one is 13 months and for about 2 months now I have to change him while he's stood up and he will move around loads I have to chase him all around x

ur son is ready for pull ups! Diaper underwear! It becomes harder to change ur babys diapers cuz these babies aren’t babies any more: they have now become Toddlers= 12+months is a 1yr old so as toddlers they become more vocal with their body languages & words as they build their little personalities!
So things like changing diapers is not as “easy” as It used to be when they didn’t have “control” & u did
I had such a hard time right around the 1yr mark as well. I remember I absolutely hated changing him in public restrooms cuz he would be all over the place & it wud give me the ick! Bt another mama said to try pull ups! I was like aren’t pull ups for like 2 or 3 yr old 🤷🏾‍♀️ & she was like nope u are misinformed, u should try them! TBH that was one of the best advices I got from a seasoned mama who saw me; so that’s why I’m sharing & will keep sharing that advice cuz lots of moms (like myself) think our LOs are “too young” at that age bt Pampers cruisers saved my life!

Absolutely! It's super frustrating! Literally like trying to change a wild animal 🤦. We changed to pull-ups (we've not started potty training yet), and tried to teach him how to help out his own nappy/trousers etc on. It Took a while, but now changing nappies is more pleasant as LO likes to help try put his own nappy and clothes on.

I found giving her something to hold helps but I'm planning on potty training her soon as she's jus started to get like this at 15 months

Thank you so much for posting this because I thought this behavior was abnormal. My some is 9 months and it’s become soooo hard to get his diaper on sometimes. He’s flipping and crawling and wiggling all over. It’s frustrating for sure but I am relieved it’s not just my boy

Would you be annoyed?

Husband went out last night to a pub quiz (absolutely fine) however his lift home was with his friends new girlfriend who arrived totally drunk yet he still got in the car. He said it was awkward to refuse and get a taxi in front of others. He's 36 years old and I honestly thought he'd do better when he has a family at home. I'm so pissed off with him!

Partner working all the time

Does anyone else have a husband that literally just works all the time I am honestly so drained I am literally so exhausted 😩 😭 I am just on my own all the time I feel like it would probably be better if I was just a single parent sometimes it’s just so draining.
I am currently receiving postnatal support as since giving birth to my second I have been struggling I had a really traumatic time it’s Easter weekend and I am just sitting at home not having the energy to do anything he literally works Monday - Saturday all the time till 5am-7pm.
I was just wondering if anyone else has a similar situation does it get better I just don’t know if I can carry on with this relationship I hardly see him and when I do it’s pretty much bed time.
The washing is piled high the house is a mess and I don’t have the energy to do anything other than to look after my two children.

2 weeks

I finally got my own apartment and left my husband 2 weeks ago today. Im honestly surprised how civil he's been. But I knew that he'd be with other women immediately, and I thought I was okay with that. The fact that he's still even with nothing to lose because I left, lying to me about being at another house is driving me crazy. I have his location and drove by there the other day so I know. Its. It healthy for me to concern myself with I know. But I cant handle the quickness and the lies. I know this is how he copes, he cant be alone and probably why hes being so nice after I left.

Advise!!!

Ok so this Easter Dad is supposed to have 5 nights with our 2yo (court ordered) I’m fine with it. I think our child will struggle as they already struggle with a 2 night stay, but it’s ordered so it has to happen. There is no mention in the order that these are in addition to his regular contact it just says the child will stay with the father for 5 nights at Easter, there was a conversation in court about it only been 5 as it was to build up the nights gradually.

He is now trying to tag it to his weekend meaning he will have 6/7 nights. I don’t agree with this as like I say 2 nights are hard for the child’s it is so 5 is going to be hard and I don’t want to add to it.

My solicitor has said until he agrees I should not let him have her. I agree and I don’t want to give into him as he is very much all about control and abusing me not doing what is right for the child but I am also conscious that the child then misses out on a little holiday away with his family all for the sake of 1/2 nights. It seems so silly.

What’s your thoughts and advice??

If you’re not close to your mom - what went wrong?

Now that I have kids I want a strong and close relationship with my babies. Something I didn’t have with my mom and still don’t.

My mom and I see each other once or twice a year and that’s if I go there to visit her. We don’t talk on the phone unless she wants to call me to ask my younger sisters to go back home.

Never comes over to see my 3 kids never calls to check on them avoids me when she sees me out with my family.

When I was a teen we argued non stop. For years until I left the house. But before that I was always the good child always listened always did what she asked. I was the oldest so did everything for her went above and beyond. I bought up my younger sisters stayed up late nights fed them changed nappies bath them took them out on weekends. My sisters don’t remember her doing any of these things because she never did them. And now she hates them staying at my house she calls non stop.

She’s manipulative and twists things a lot. I have other siblings and she pits us against each other without us realising. Only now as an adult I’m picking up on things and how she manipulates around things.

he sleeps for 12 hours a night. he’s been dry 4 days in a row now including whilst napping 2-3 hours, going to the toilet on his own and then pulling his underwear and bottoms up himself. do i put his potty in his bedroom as he can’t reach his own handle to go to the toilet
