Kayleigh just went for her 15 month checkup and now we have to involve early intervention because she doesn't say any words. I can't help feeling so down today. Must have cried 10 times today. I can't help feeling that I failed my child. I also feel like she doesn't like me to hold her or hug her. I feel so terrible today😢😢

I’m so scared to go to ours too for this exact reason 😭 I know exactly how you feel

Early intervention is amazing though. My son went through it. He decided to stop saying all but 2 words and they were absolutely amazing! My sons 3 now and talks so well!!!

I requested early intervention for 1 of my twins because she was kinda behind in gross motor skills. She started at 10 months and they will release her once she starts walking so she’s almost done! It goes by fast some babies just need extra help and that’s ok.

Our son just qualified for EI for PT for walking (he has low muscle tone and hypermobility) and OT for feeding (also due to low tone). His lowest score was in expressive language which is what got him to qualify. I’m thrilled he will be getting help from professionals!
In a few years it won’t matter when your daughter started saying words or how many words she had at 15 months. You haven’t failed her at all, you’re doing everything to help her!

I think Early Intervention will be a great thing for her. Also, don't be surprised if around 2 years old, she has a word explosion seemingly overnight... this happens a lot! Try not to fret, you didn't fail her. 😊

What steps are they requesting?
My son had his 15m check up last week and they didn’t seem bothered by him saying no words because his comprehension is good. Just wondering what they suggested since we are in a similar boat with no words
@Shelby thank you so much Shelby. So glad your little one is doing well😃😃😃😃

@Elizabeth Hi Elizabeth. So I told her Ped that she isn't saying any words at all, she is not pointing nor waving. He said that is still has time to learn but he wants her to get a jump start on Early Intervention
