My LO is 2 months old. The last day or so she is looking/sounding like she is training to have a BM. She is exclusively breastfed. A nurse practitioner we saw said she can’t really get constipated, but she sure sounds like she is straining. Is it too early/too young to give her some meds to help? First time mom here.

Since she’s only two months old, it could be that she’s still figuring out how her body works. It can take a lot of effort for infants to poop, and not necessarily from constipation, but because they are learning how to make their bowels move properly

The face my daughter used to make when she was pooping was absolutely HILARIOUS…her face would get slightly reddish and she’d get a look of extreme concentration and her eyes would get all watery
they can be funny, her eyes get all wide and she gets this surprise type look on her face

Ask your baby's Pediatrtion if a little apple juice is okay to give. It can help with constipation

Mylicon gas drops or a probiotic could help if you don’t want to do a little juice

If you think shes constipated you could try a little bit of cooled water that has been boiled. Ask your health visitor or gp for advice
