Milk Decreasing

Hey, I’m about 5weeks postpartum and I’ve been really struggling with my milk decreasing im trying to pump as regularly as I can (about every 2-3 hours) but it’s really discouraging when I only pump 20-30 milliliters at a time. I’ve been eating the lactation cookies and taking pills to help promote milk volume but I’m not really seeing a milk increase. My husband and I don’t really want to make her a full time formula baby but it’s looking like that’s going to be our only option. Do you mamas have any advice for me?

Do you know if the baby is latching correctly? Do you have a lactation consultant you can meet with ?

Try making her latch on to you a couple times a day and drink milk like that , because her saliva promotes milk production

If u r using fenugreek sometimes that can decrease supply. Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water and getting plenty of sleep ( lack of sleep really hurt my supply). Don’t get discouraged and talk to a lactation specialist if possible. You could also look into milk banks as a last resort before formula.

You can try power pumping, where you pump for 10 min and then 10 min off and keep going back and forth for an hour. Do that on top of continuing to pump after every feed. Stay hydrated, eat oatmeal, take electrolytes, can google other foods to help with lactation too. Listen to music while pumping. Try to stay relaxed and not stressed about how much you’re producing. But it can take regular pumping and power pumping for a few weeks before you get a higher supply. It’s different for everyone and your supply is supposed to fluctuate with time. When you get your period, if you’re in high stress, etc. I’ve also heard it can take 12 weeks before your supply becomes stable

Baby on the boob as much as possible and only pump after baby has fed. A rediculous amount of water, i mean, 6-7l a day. Oats, i cant stress enough about oats. Eggs, greek yoghurt and butter. Fat, protein and loads of water.

I am 22months and still breastfeeding. There will be days you will not get as much whilst pumping, it is ok. Apparently every few weeks there is regulation on milk supply that happens according to the babys needs. Apparently the most production is during the night, so maybe just pump then?

I never did lactation cookies. Just porridge with butter and peanut butter for breakfast, eggs and yoghurt during the day and like I said, a rediculous amount of water to drink.

Avoid stress as that can impact it too

Try different foods. Garlic, pistachios, and coconut water can help increase production. Obviously lots of water and high calorie meals.

Mine decreased 3weeks pp and I did a every 2 hour pump for 48 hours and just fed her through a bottle and let her latch at night at the point where my boobs was ready to be pumped that way if they went down I knew she was latching and that helped my supply a lot bc I was only producing 2 ounces combined now I’m producing 5 outta each every 3-4 hours

Make sure that you are also eating and drinking enough momma. All the supplements in the world won’t help if your body doesn’t have the water and the nutrients it needs to put into the milk. And when I say drink enough I mean drink way more than what you would normally. You should pretty much always have a water bottle with you. I also highly recommend pedialyte and/or liquid iv/lmnt electrolyte packets. They enhance the effectiveness of your water and make it easier to drink more if you're like me and hate drinking plain water all the time. You can do this momma!! Sending so much love! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

When I pump I don’t seem to get as much milk but I just have baby naked on me skin to skin all day and have him feed on demand and now my milk is overflowing. He’s gaining weight and having lots of poop n pee so i know it’s working.

Make sure you completely empty your breasts every time you pump!! I have to pump for up to 45 minutes sometimes to get it all out and I only know that I’m completely empty because my nips will tingle and it goes all the way down to my toes and I usually have to hand express the last few drops from around my nips

Pump after every feed, body armor lyte, high protein and make sure you are eating high calorie. Stay hydrated, stay stress free, oatmeal,

Double check with an LC for your pump settings and flange sizing. Mine has changed since being sized even postpartum. I also had to add 5-10 more minutes to my sessions to gain an additional letdown.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.
