So I just got word from my HR that I am not eligible to get paid maternity leave. This is because I pretty new at the company and do not meet the criteria for being paid during my time out (sad). Please can anyone advice on what options I have. How does maternity allowance work?
Thank you

If you look up on the gov website it explains everything! I’ve just been told the same, except I’ve been on maternity for 3 nearly 4 months already. You have to request or print out the form to fill out and send off documents (mat b1, smp1 form and 13 weeks of payslips).
As long as you’ve worked for at least 26 weeks in the 66 weeks before your baby is due and you’ve earned at least £30 a week for 13 weeks, you’ll be eligible. It’s still £172.43 a week or 90% of your wages for 39 week, whichever is less.
It’s all on the gov website, if it still doesn’t make sense you can call citizens advice and they’ll explain your options and help, hope that’s made sense!

Thank you Hollie, I’ll check on the gov website❤️
