Hi,
I just wanted to get some thoughts on daycare.
I been trying to wrap my head around my son’s in home daycare taking the week off for spring break. I went to look at the calendar and noticed that for the year they take 25 days off for holidays and this doesne include their 2 weeks of vacation time. In addition I still have to pay for the holidays and their vacation time even if I have to find alternative care. They said their calendar is based on the school district where they live but I went to look at the calendar and some of the days they take off are not on the school’s calendar as time off. Idk if it's just me but that seems like a lot of time off especially when I have to pay the full cost. In your experience, is this normal?

Learn more about our guidelines.Yes and the 25 still doesn't include their 2 week vacation time. So that's like 35 days total a year. Their oldest kid is 2.5 years. And they don't have any kids. They are all grown adults.

That's a lot of time off for any daycare. I used to work in daycare and we got 8-10 pay days off for holidays a year and 1 week vacation. The center had half days usually once a month or 2-3 full days closed a year for training. We were closed maybe 13-15 days a year depending on the winter weather maybe a couple more but not 35 days.
