Long story short, I am in my home country for my maternity leave. I am pregnant again and maybe too sensitive but it really makes me sad. So I hired a nanny for my LG as I am pregnant again and nauseous and can’t look properly after her in the afternoons as she also wakes every 2 hours at night and I don’t get proper sleep. So when my MIL comes home my nanny tells to my daughter something like “Look, who is here, granny!”. And my MIL is like “not granny, mummy!”. This made me very angry and I wanted to reply something very rude but I stopped myself. Is this normal? Like, wtf? She brought up her daughter’s son who calls her mummy. But she is not going to bring up my daughter. She is not even helping me with her which is why I have to pay for a nanny. Why on earth she thinks my daughter should call her mummy. I stopped myself this time but I am not sure I will be able to do it if this happens again, and we will end up in a huge argument. We brought the baby here so both set of parents can enjoy her while I am on maternity leave but I am starting to regret it.

Thats super weird! Can your husband talk to her?
i just told it to my husband and he thinks it is funny and says oh come don’t pay attention to these stupid things. We are going to leave soon anyway, she will only call you mummy

Yeah, that’s weird!
Maybe she has issue with ‘granny’ ?
Maybe ask her to think of another name that she’d like to be called.

Just tell her out right. If she kicks off blame your pregnancy hormone on "how you said it but not the meaning behind it" 🤣.
Granny, gran, grandma, nanny, nanna, but not mummy. Your little one has one of those.
I would just explode and deal with the consequences.
Definitely not the right way to deal with it but it is my way
yeah, i thinks so. She tries to look younger than she is but it is not my problem. I will suggest baby calls her just by her name then 😒

Oh absolutely not. If my mother or mother in law did this they'd get a spade to the face not just a telling off!! I'd be furious! X
i was about to explode and not sure won’t do it next time she does it. I told my husband either he talks to her next time she says it or I will explode and he will have to deal with the consequences his whole life 😡
both her grandsons from her daughter call her mummy and their own mother they call just by her name🤦🏻♀️ and she thinks she can teach my daughter the same. Hell no!!!

Doesn't matter what they call her, they arent your kids. If you don't want your kid calling her that then you are well within your rights as a mother to tell her that you don't like it x
