Vent/Sleep Deprived 3.5months - sorry

I can’t get bedtimes right. I’m so upset tonight as I just feel like I’m failing in every single way. I’ve seen so many posts of peoples babies younger than mine (4 months in just over a week) sleeping right through 7-8/7am. Mine has never been a good sleeper, up 5/6 times a night, I don’t even think I’ll know when I’m going through the 4 month regression because she has nothing to regress. Everytime I feed her and get her to sleep, the minute I transfer her she’s awake. She spits her dummy out constantly and is looking for it or she knocks it out her mouth. She’ll sleep fine on me or in the bed but I don’t want to cosleep. I’m exhausted. I’m feeling incredibly low right now I just needed to type this.

Hi mama
You’re doing an amazing job, I know it’s tough but please remmeber this will pass and won’t last forever. She might not remember it when she’s older but right now she just wants to be close to you and she needs you because she’s so little and all she knows is you ❤️
Don’t compare her to other babies because every baby is different, so don’t beat yourself up about it, you’re doing absolutely nothing wrong.
You’ve got this ❤️

You’re doing brilliant. My little one is the same. Sleeps like a log on me but up every 1-2 hours through the night every night. 5am and he’s awake awake so my husband takes him downstairs and I get a solid 2 hours before he has to get ready for work. I’m EBF and when I hear other bf babies sleep through the night I feel like I must be doing something wrong. X

It’s normal for babies to wake frequently during the night (and also helps to protect against SIDS I believe). Also up 5-6 times each night! This is baby no.2 for me and my eldest was even worse! 🙈

You are doing an amazing job! I can completely relate as my first was the same. I felt so helpless and like I'd never sleep again. But it dose pass. And you will sleep more eventually. As the others have said you are her everything and she feels the need to be close to you all the time. It's so normal for babies to be like this. And as others have said frequent wakes help prevent against SIDS. This thought used to get me through most nights. Sometimes online shopping while feeding got me through as well. If I had to rock him a good audio book helped. Sleep is like a roller coaster one month it will be great and then it will have a dip for a few weeks.

This is us too! Don’t worry you’re not the only one, it’s more common than you think and normal for them to be waking frequently. It just doesn’t feel it at the time when you’re so sleep deprived and see posts about other babies sleeping through. Try and ignore these posts however hard it is! Here if you need to chat. It’s tough but does get easier xx

Sending you hugs, and more reassurance that it's not something you're doing wrong! Babies march to the beat of their own drums, and while some actions from you help out, they will eventually settle in doing what works for them. Just think how many parents mention how different their babies are between themselves. My mom said my sister would not sleep for longer than 1h at night, and I almost never woke up during the night! And she was doing the same thing for both of us..so just shows you how different personalities can be even in babyhood.

Hoping you get rest soon! Stay strong!

It’s the same for us too mama ❤️ Most of the posts about babies sleeping through will definitely regress at some point it’s just a matter of when. It’s so so hard but in the middle of the night remember all of the other parents also awake and trying to get their babies to sleep. You’re not alone and we can do this ☺️

I’m in exactly the same position and have to keep reminding myself that I’m doing a great job, so going to remind you too! You’re doing an amazing job and you’re everything your little bubba needs. What you’re going through right now won’t last forever. We have got this!

Hey, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I know how hard it can be - it’s incredibly difficult. Something that really, really helped me was Huckleberry, it’s an app that tells me the baby’s ’sweet spots’ and when to put the baby down for a nap and to bed - the time they’re most likely to fall asleep easily. You have to pay for that feature, but for me it’s well worth the £8 a month.

Also feeding to sleep may help, as well as white noise, and perhaps checking the temperature of the room? My baby sleeps better when it’s slightly on the cool side (18-19 degrees). My baby goes into a deep sleep quickly if I give a bath and bottle just before bed and I leave it just later than the app tells me so he’s extra tired so it’s a bit easier to transfer him to the crib. Although today took me an hour and about 5 attempts - sometimes it just is a bit more difficult!

It won’t last forever, and I’m sure things will get much easier. Sending lots of love! 🩷

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

I think Motherhood has made me more bitter than I realized…

This is such a ramble but I don’t know where else to put it all.

I’m four months in and I don’t really have hobbies right now. I don’t do anything for myself except maybe doomscrolling or listening to a podcast while I breastfeed my baby. I used to craft and have game nights with friends. Activities that usually are at least 2 hour stretches. Now if I have an hour free my mind immediately goes to baby, or doing something in the house for baby.

And I thought I didn’t mind. Like I knew postpartum could be very mentally consuming. But I think it’s altering how I view people around me and it’s prodding at my relationship with my husband.

He spends most of his time making food for us, looking after our dogs, playing with the baby, ect. But he still has time for his hobby. Spends maybe an hour a night on it. Even adapted to using a bot for shopping for his hobby after a certain incident where we had to have a heart to heart after he left me home alone with the baby for hours during a busy workday (I work from home) to shop for his hobby.

And yet there’s like this little green eyed monster in me that rages every time I know he’s running off to start up the bot. Even though I’m the reason he does it this way.

We took a family trip last weekend to see his best friend and their kids and let them meet the baby. He brought the laptop. He’s always brought a laptop on trips and it’s never been a problem to me before. But one night we both woke up while the baby was still asleep, and he wandered out of the room. I tried to fall back asleep but couldn’t. So I went to the kitchen to try having something warm to drink to settle me. And he was there at the table running the bot from his laptop. I flipped out at him. But there really wasn’t reason to. It’s not like I needed help with the baby and he was ignoring me. He wasn’t avoiding our friends. He was just awake and unable to sleep and found something to do with his time. Yet my snap reaction was “why the hell would you do this on a family trip?”

I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the less complete sleep from baby’s middle of the night feed? My brain being just consumed by baby? Maybe I’m not as over that shopping incident as I thought? But I’m just so annoyed at his hobby right now. The green eyed monster thinks “you could be using that time differently” but realistically to do what exactly??? Stare at our baby in the dark???

I spent probably an hour apologizing to him after I snapped. And he’s of course hurt and frustrated because I said some very mean things in the moment.

I don’t want to be this jealous, angry person. But I also don’t know how to find time for myself in this right now outside of basic hygiene. It’s like I’ve forgotten how to be myself, even if just for an hour.

Maybe I need a therapist.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Vaccination advice

I’m really looking for advice and opinions on vaccines for my baby. I’m not against getting them but also just don’t feel like I know enough about them to make a decision just yet as I’ve had people say to me they don’t agree with them and they can cause issues etc… so I just want as much info as possible. What are everyone’s thoughts and experiences of vaccinating your child? I’m just interested to see everybody’s views (no judgement as I just want to know I’m doing the right thing) thank you x
