Hi mamas, my baby has recently taken to a bottle after nearly 4 months of refusals. I don’t know what is average or what she should really be drinking per feed, I’m only giving her one bottle per day and the rest of the feeds are breastfeeding. I usually put 120mL in the bottle and she’ll drink about 110mL and I’m feeding her an average of 7 feeds per day. I know each bub is different, but can I get an idea of how many mLs your bubs are drinking with how many feeds in 24 hours?

Hey mama.
What I have learnt from being in NICU is that’s the recommendation is between 140-160ml x weight (in kgs) / number of feeds in 24 hrs. For example.
If your Bub weights 6kg and your doing 7 feeds in 24hrs. You would do 140ml or 160ml x 6.0 / 7 = 120ml if 140ml 137ml if 160ml.
Good luck :)

When my daughter had a bottle when she was a baby she'd have 90-140mls. It's normal for it to change a bit each feed. When she was an older baby, 10-12ish months, she'd drink a bit more- around 100-180mls, but having far fewer milk feeds due to solids.
As for how many feeds... that's impossible to say, both my babies are/were boob obsessed and feed every 2-3hrs during the day, but want to stay attached pretty much all night.

Was that for breastmilk Loren? Sounds like how they work out how much formula.
Breastfed bubs usually drink less because breastmilk manages to fit everything they need into a smaller amount. They also don't drink more as they get bigger as your milk actually changes what's in it to suit them instead.
I've heard 90-150mls is roughly the average. My bub is 5 months and usually drinks around 100-120mls.

yeah it was expressed breastmilk. My little one was on even more been premature. I think it was 180ml per kg per day but maybe full term bubs are on less than this.
