Baby food?!

My baby will be 5 months on the 19th, has anyone started baby purées yet? My pediatrician said to wait as close to 6 months as possible which I will, but I’m just curious as to who has and hasn’t. I don’t know how much to give him either when it is time. So if anyone has tips or feedback I’m all ears! I also know to start with veggies!! I’ve tried baby rice cereal and he did ok with it BUT I’ve heard that there’s a lot of iron in them and it makes me nervous.

I started beechnut brand puréed fruits, veggies, and oatmeal for level 1 (supported sitters) at 4 months, and my day has done great with them! It’s been so much fun watching her develop likes and dislikes.

my mom told me it’s too soon to start puréed foods but I truly don’t think so. I’ve read between 4 and 6 months. I’m definitely going to start like 2 TBSP’s a day with my son of veggies to see what happens.

Our pediatrician also said to wait until 6 months. But my son (almost 5 months) is super interested in food. Tries to grab our forks while we're eating, will open his mouth for a spoon, etc. So I definitely think he's ready. I know a lot of people start at 4 months. I think it all depends on if your baby is showing signs they're ready and also if they have enough hea/neck strength also.

my son watches us like a hawk when we eat food, even sometimes leans in. He watches the fork go from the plate to our mouth and just looks shocked like “why did I not get any?”🤣

We go straight to solids. 5 months on the 9th. Almost meeting the general requirements for solids. She’s sucked on a cooked baby carrot and some watermelon.

We did this with our first and it worked out really well.

Avatar

Exactly! Mine does the same and then will copy us and move his mouth while we're chewing. It's crazy how much they learn just from watching us.

I started my baby girl a week and some change before she turned 4 months, as per recommended by her GI doctor. She'll be 5 months on the 14th.

Honestly she's been ready since she turned 3 months lol. So when the GI told us that, it was kinda relieving. Before we had to hide eating in front of her. Now I've learned to feed myself while also giving her a spoonful 😂

Avatar

I learned that she really likes sweet things. I've tried all the veggies they recommend for 4 months, but the only ones she liked were sweet potatoes lol. But she loves fruit. So once I try something she doesn't like, and I gave her time to know she won't have a reaction, I mix it with something I know she definitely likes... Currently blueberry/carrot is her fave.

my pediatrician said as long as they have full head control and can sit up with a little bit of support it’s fine.

Avatar

My pediatrician said it was fine as long as he’s reaching those milestones to eat my baby has been tasting since 4 months but mainly still feeds off breastmilk

Avatar

My pediatrician told us we can start as soon as he's able to sit assisted and able to turn from side to side
So we started about a week ago
My little guy is 5 months on the 6th and it's been great😊

Avatar

I have already started food before he was 4 months, my mom said it was fine, my aunt started her kids on food way before 4 months. He started on easy foods like sweet potato, banana, and apples. Then went to veggies and yogurt lately. I don't see any harm in doing it.

Avatar

I started both kids at 4months with the approval of our pediatrician. I make my own but will buy things like plums/prunes and green beans (hate dealing with the strings) and will buy some variety for travel. I get Gerber Brand when I buy, or the cheap pouches at Aldi.
The first week or two I start with 3-4 bites per meal and offer it 3x a day. Then just slowly increasing the amount as they figure out what to do.
I start with single foods until I work through everything I can to make sure there's no sensitivities then I'll start mixing foods or feeding combos. I don't usually feed just cereal but if there's a food that's extra runny I mix it in

Avatar

We started at 4 months per our pediatrician, he’s had sweet potato, pear, strawberry, banana and nectarine so far. Pear was definitely the favorite. I do one food by itself for 2-3 days then move on to something else. I am going to try prunes next to help with constipation

Our pediatrician said our baby should be on mostly food by now and smaller bottles. But personally don’t agree with him. She is sitting up but not all the way there yet. She eats oatmeal, fruit, and carrots and rice. She eats any stage 1 foods. But she still drinks 5 oz every feed and they told us to wait 2 hrs after she eats to give her a bottle.. well that doesn’t work for her. She wants her bottle right after. I do notice the more she eats in the day the better she sleeps at night. She’s shown a lot of signs that she was ready for food but we don’t do any poultry or meats. I think it’s just based on your judgement. You know your baby best!!

Avatar

I refuse to start solids till bare minimum 6m, signs of readiness mean nothing when their gut isn’t closed till about that point. Peds doctors don’t specialize on the feeding topic like GI doctors, dietitians, nutritionist, IBCLC. Feeding them early can cause them to have a high risk of issues later in life. With my first I did BLW never purred and just offered a little at a time. By 8months she was eating a thin pork loin and shrimp on her own. With my second (November baby) I plan on doing the same.

My LG just had her first sweet potato puree today, she's 5 months +1 week.

Parenting 24/7 is harder than going to work full time?

I’m having a debate with my partner as he’s done nothing to help since. Our 14 month old was born, I’ve done it all alone all day and all night. He gets a break when he comes in from work all night I never get a break
He try’s to tell me it’s harder going to work full time 5 days a week than parenting ALONE 24/7?
What do you think

Divorced at 5 months PP

My husband just divorced me yesterday.

I'm 5 months post partum and I feel like complete shit. I literally can't stop crying and I don't feel like eating and this whole week my milk supply has gone down due to stress and not eating. What helps with milk supply?

The divorce- on Monday at 5am me and my husband had a small argument on text. It was regarding him not catering to my love language. I sent him a video on how women shouldn't have to ask and how laziness can kill a relationship. We've had many arguments regarding this prior about him not catering to my love language and he doesn't buy me flowers or doesn't think of me. Anyways this night, he text me saying he doesn't do Mother's Day and all that, he doesn't want to buy me flowers because my sisters buy me flowers and he can't be arsed with my moods. He said I've not been his peace and said he's done.
I replied "okay. All I want is for you to appreciate me and love me as your wife and mother of your child. I'm not pushing you away, I'm begging you to love me etc etc. I'm done too."

I come home from my errands that morning and he's upped and left. He took all of his belongings, clothes, drawer, tv- everything.

He didn't ring or text me or anything.

The property is in my name and as he left and didn't leave the key, I changed the locks the next day. I feel this is what pushed him over the edge.

He officially divorced me on Saturday.
I'm 5 months post partum and I have a 5 year old from my ex partner too.

I just want to talk about it with someone that's not biased. Was I asking for too much? I feel he just didn't want to be with me anymore and used this as an excuse? Or is that me overthinking....
Input would be nice xoxo

Partner is giving me the silent treatment

So I was struggling with my postpartum anxiety bad yesterday. My partner and I was out for drinks with family. He kept making jokes about treating me a bit shit.
Which no one thought was funny. I am usually quite patient about him using me as his jokes, but yesterday it hurt.

When we got home I told him it made me feel disrespected. Now he is giving me the cold fat shoulder?! What do I do ?

wtf moment?

I have been going back and forth with my husband lately. Well not lately it’s been years. He is the best husband and father you could ask for; for two weeks. Then he’s inconsistent. It drives me mad. Then he’s back to husband and dad of the year , then back to same inconsistency. I talked to him about this last night and he said “if i was lovey dovey and acted like this all the time you’d get bored and cheat on me.”

Ok so for starters i know some of you are going to say omg omg omg super controlling omg leave omg. No im not doing that. Im happy he finally admitted his wrong doing and taking accountability for it but id like to know the deeper reason, the what the f has him thinking like this reason, the personality trait reason. He’s obviously scared I’m going to leave him; so much so that he’s doing this dumb shit to prevent it. Past trauma? What do y’all think I can do to get him to see I’m not going anywhere? I’m consistent already, I married him, we have a baby. He really is the love of my life. I have never loved another man like this before.. but this shit is for the birds and he thinks he’s keeping me doing this but in actuality it’s making me lose respect and detach.

FTM

Hello,
FTM here. At what age do you stop applying cream on nappy area during nappy changes? My 2 year old boy isn’t toilet ready yet but uses both nappy pants/pull ups and regular diapers

Forgiving a partner…

Long story short - found out 2 months ago my partner of almost 10 years has slept with two girls, one of which he’s been seeing for 8 months - during this time I was pregnant with our third child and gave birth. (She had an abortion)
I found out, he cut all ties (still works with her)
I want to try and move on from this, we have three children , and a home… I can’t face the idea of being without my children half the time. I want to try and make things work. But I can’t stop the intrusive thoughts / images of the two of them together…. Any advice if you’ve been in a similar situation?
Sick of feeling this rubbish, also 5 month pp so hormones/confidence is in pieces😣😣😣
