Little backstory, my son who is 3 has severe CMPA and is still allergic to many food items (dairy, soya, egg, nuts, etc) we haven’t even tried him on so many things because of how he has reacted so we have a blood test booked for finding out what other food items he is allergic too that we haven’t tried. His symptoms started pretty much day 4 and after being admitted into hospital as he was inconsolable in pain we had the diagnosis. Once he was on Neocate and Omperazole for his reflux, we had a different baby.
I now have a 4 week old little girl who has been EBF for the last 3.5 weeks. I tried to introduce a few bottles of 1oz HIPP organic with 2oz breastmilk 48 hours ago and my baby who is usually an absolute dream and never cries is suddenly screaming in pain, arching back, spitting up loads of her feed, red puffy eyes on feed with the formula in it, then started refusing the breast after, bad stomach etc.
I’m just abit confused as to whether she has CMPA or if the formula maybe aggravated her reflux as I haven’t eliminated dairy from my diet so for the last 4 weeks she has still been having elements of it through my breastmilk.
Has anyone had anything similar? I am not wanting to EBF full time, I did want to add in 1/2 bottles of formula to take some pressure off. I am waiting on a phone call from GP for prescription milk anyway but considering she’s had dairy from my BM and was so content until adding formula, was just abit confused…

My friends baby was absolutely fine and was EBF from birth to 6 months+, eating dairy etc, when it got to weaning she was allergic to egg & milk so only found out then! So it may be possible she isn’t getting enough dairy through your breastmilk to react & only reacts from the formula as it’s straight into her system. It may be worth getting a hypoallegic formula from the GP & using this along side your breastmilk to see how she is X
