My baby boy has never suffered from it before. We have started settling in sessions this week at nursery and he was absolutely happy the first couple of days. He went to do 4 hours by himself. Yesterday though, he woke up knowing what was about to happen and he cried his heart out when I tried to leave him. I waited for 5/10 mins to allow the contact person to calm him down but she didn’t manage. I then spent an hour in the room with him happily playing. I tried to leave him again and he bursted into tears. It was awful. Ever since, I can’t even go to bathroom upstairs in our house. He would cry his heart out. Anyone else experienced the same? How can I help him?

My little boy was exactly the same, I couldn’t even leave him in bed with his dad to go for a wee in the morning, he would scream! I asked for an extra settling in session at the recommendation of the HV (we originally only had one), but sounds like you’ve had a few anyway! He officially started nursery on Tuesday this week and we’ve had tears every day at drop off, and hard as it was I just had to leave him coz needed to get to work! I rung them though, once I arrived at work and every day they said he’d settled quickly once he was distracted and couldn’t see me anymore and he’s had a whale of a time the rest of the day! I think tears at drop off is gonna happen for a long time and it’s hard but I think you need to be able to walk away and have faith that they deal with it all the time! Ring them as many times as you feel you need to, too, for your own peace of mind xx
