Sleep...help!

Second baby and I've completely forgotten how to settle a newborn to sleep. Only on day two but trapped in an endless cycle of:

- feed for ten mins till baby falls to sleep (and milk only just coming in so not sure how filling feeds are)
- wind baby on my chest for ten mins
- attempt to settle in moses basket verrrry carefully only for baby to start screaming after five mins and looking for boob again. Calms down if I put my little finger in his mouth to suck so sure it's just comfort rather than cluster feeding he's looking for...but this has been going on since nine!

Any ideas as to what I'm missing? I'm desperate and would be ok if I knew I could sleep in the day tomorrow but I feel so guilty about not hanging out with my two year old when she's awake! How do other people manage parenting a newborn with another child? My husband has been brilliant at keeping everyone fed / watered / entertained all day and we've been swapping round holding baby and playing with toddler...but one of us has to feed the baby at night and it's not currently him!

I haven't tried either dummies or swaddling, I don't think I needed to with my first - those both sound like they might work! Will see if I can get an Amazon delivery sorted for tomorrow...thanks for replying Jodie! Feel like I'm going mad!!!

Nappy change? Is baby dry, warm and comfortable? Xx

I found with my 2 that a firm and snug hold on them either side helps..so both arms.. when you put them down, keeps them quiet as they feel like they're still being held.. then gently take one hand away..then the other and pray to the sleep gods they stay down 😅

I just let mine fall asleep feeding and then cosleep so they can sleep snuggled against me. It might be cluster feeding to get your milk in. Also dummies can affect how much they feed as they hide feeding cues so you may want to research before using to make sure you know the impact

Thanks for replies everyone, all coming back to me now! And a memory that it's all temporary and just as we'll figure out it'll all change again so just going to try to go with the flow. Milk properly in this morning so he's just has a lovely long feed and going to crack out the sling now to see how long he sleeps between them

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

Am I wrong?

I’ve been wanting to add more garden beds to my garden. Husband says “hey do you want to go to Home Depot to get that wood for the garden beds.” Cool I’m excited I’ve been wanting to get this done for awhile.

We get there and we’re picking out wood and I make 2 comments about how I don’t like how 2 pieces of wood look that he picked out. And he says if you’re going to be this picky then u can do this yourself.

I literally made 2 comments and mind you I’m the one paying for the wood.

I felt dismissed and like my opinion didn’t matter and if I wanted to have an opinion then I need to do it myself. Like what?

It was rude and not okay. Am I wrong? Am I overreacting?

He thinks it was fine that he said that.

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism
