My LO is exclusively breast fed I really don’t want to stop yet I am aiming for 6 months but he is feeding CONSTANTLY in the night as it’s the only way I can get him back to sleep during this 4 month regression literally waking every hour sometimes even less! Would formula help him sleep longer? I just feel I’m doing something wrong but I love breastfeeding so not sure what to do :(

Not necessarily, lots of FF babies still wake up through the night and lots of EBF babies sleep all night. FF is a faff and expensive and you would be changing things up and taking away the one thing that works, when you are already tired. Imagine if you were getting up all those times to make a bottle you would lose the plot. Stick with it and hopefully things improve soon ❤️ Ps I FF lol x

You could try an expressed or formula bottle before bed so they take a bigger feed?
We did 1 expressed bottle before bed as she would only ever take small feeds from me so she was constantly 'snacking' 😂
Just the same as above...be aware of switching up incase baby begins to prefer bottle and you get any issues but your BF should be well established by now anyway.
We added our bottle at about 3 weeks old, and worked perfectly for her sleep. when she hit 3.5 months she hit the nosey stage and started getting fussy on the breast, we're mid regression now and I gradually added more bottles as she started refusing & always took a bigger feed that way. Now at nearly 5 months and she will only BF straight after a nap and in the night, any other day feeds she just wants a bottle 🙅🏽♀️ I'll be sad when she fully stops BF though! X

I've been transitioning on to formula for the past week or so but still giving the occasion feed/ feeding at night. Her sleep is still just as bad as the start of the regression. Last night I tried a bottle in the night instead of boob and she was still up again. AND I had to go downstairs and have her wake up further because it's more of a wait. Just something to think about, I would've loved to carry on EBF and it is a superpower to get them back to sleep x

I am exactly the same. I think I have created a sleep habit were my little one associates feeding with sleep so is wanting to feed when wakes. Not sure what to do to change it. He use to sleep a 6 hour period at night. Now is waking hourly to 2 hourly. 😵💫🤦♀️
oh it’s exactly the same for us. It’s so hard because feeding back to sleep works but worries we’ll never get out do the habit😩

I started to give my LO formula before bed but will only drink so much then will want the boob. I wouldn’t really say it’s helped extend his sleep massively, probs the same as a good BF before bed. I do use a dummy though as him needing to BF for comfort was getting uncomfortable for me

We are EBF and his sleep varies overnight, it’s just how it goes with the regression. I nurse to sleep as it’s best for us overnight. I was worried about getting out of the habit as you mention above, but I’ve never seen any grown adults nursing to sleep 🤣 from what I’ve read it’s a natural behaviour that they gradually grow out of, so I have decided to enjoy the closeness it gives us xx

I BF majority of the time and formula feed at bedtime after bath, I used to get a nice 3 hour stretch at the beginning and then after that it’s every hour and I BF to sleep each time and we’re in the middle of the 4m regression it’s awful. Can’t wait til it’s over but I am worried I’m cresting awful habits by feeding to sleep each time. The thought of trying to console her with giving her the boob is too tiring to think about at 3am 😭😭

My baby has always had a bottle of expressed milk or formula before bed to make sure she gets a big feed in. Lately she’s starting refusing and only wants boob (lord help me😭) and there’s been no difference to her sleep! I can’t imagine trying to get her back to sleep at 4am without my boobs?! 😂😅 what do people do?

This reassures me it’s not just me. Hoping when we start to wean he’ll maybe feed to sleep initially but then be nice and full and stay asleep 🤞🏼
