2cm dilated and 75% effaced?

Hey there girlies! I went to my obgyn today and was told I’m 2cm dilated and 75% effaced. I just turned 37weeks today and my due date is originally May 8th. Is there any moms out there who have had an experience like this? Did you make it to your due date? I’m currently freaking out and I’d appreciate to hear from anyone with a similar situation.

That was me and I gave birth the next day 🤣 but you could also truly go on for a few more weeks. Have you had any contractions?

Don’t freak out. You’re full term so you’re good! Just make sure you got things ready. Some people can be multiple cm dilated for months and weeks before. So it doesn’t really mean anything until your water breaks or contractions start or you lose your mucus plug with blood

I was literally in the hospital for 3 days due to contractions still having them and was told I'm 1 1/2 cm dilated and I'll be 35 weeks on Friday was give steroid shots to mature baby lungs quicker in case I do go into preterm labor bc I'm still 2 weeks preterm

But I was also 38 weeks 3 days

I had a baby in October and I was 2 cm dilated for most a month

You’re full term! I was sitting at 3cm for a couple of weeks and 80% effaced. I did a check the day before my water broke and I do think that’s what set everything in motion, I was only a week early from my due date (DD being 1/15, actually birth date being 1/7).

I was that way and gave birth 2.5 weeks later at 40/4 lol

I was that way at 36 and 37 weeks. My ob said I only had a 20% chance of labor at 36 weeks and only a 30% chance of labor at 37 weeks. Then I had my baby 4 days later.

Everyone is different. My water broke at 37 weeks exactly but I wasn’t event dialted or open when I got checked a my last appointment. You just never know. You could go for weeks or go the next day. Just be ready.

I was 2cm dilated and 90% effaced at 35 weeks until 38 weeks when I went to 3cm and fully effaced and then a few days later I was at 4cm so my doctor went ahead and induced at 38 weeks and 5 days. My due date was March 9th but I gave birth February 29th.

I’m 34 weeks and 1.5cm and 70% effaced you can be like that for hours days or even weeks

well that makes me nervous 😂 I believe it was Braxton hicks that I’ve been experiencing. I haven’t felt anything too severe besides a dull back ache and some menstrual pain here & there but no bloody show, no severe timed contractions, and no urges to push. I’ve been walking around, driving around and doing what I need/can do for preparation for her.

Avatar

no water break, no severe contractions I don’t think and no bloody show. My nurse practitioner did say she doesn’t think I’ll make it to a week.. that’s what’s freaking me out. I just thought I’d have more time and be better prepared 😩🥺

Avatar

fingers crossed I stay this way until my due date🥺 thanks so much for telling me your experience!

Avatar

nurse practitioner says she scheduled my appointment for next week but doesn’t see me attending it since I’m effaced that 75%😬 .. but that’s very reassuring hopefully I get that sort of luck! there is just so much to do 😔

Thank you all so much !! I appreciate you all for responding. Your responses were comforting and helped inform me to just be ready and look after certain signs. I hope you all are having a wonderful day and enjoy the rest of your week!!

I was 3cm for a month

I'm 37 weeks and I've been 2 cm the last 2 weeks. You probably will make it to your due date. I'm due May 9 but I'm getting induced May 2nd

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Homebirth?

I am thinking I want a homebirth (second baby) for a few different reasons but my husband is very against it, he is worried about things going wrong and we are a 30 minute drive from the hospital. Has anyone been in a similar position and what did you end up doing? Any advice? 🙏
